*** NEW Investigative series on Worker's Comp ***

Internet Investigative Journal PRO PUBLICA and NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO have teamed up to report on Worker's Compensation systems in the US.
"Because every state has its own workers’ compensation system, which side of a state line the business is on makes a huge difference whether injured workers stay afloat or lose everything."

"Driven by big business and insurers, states nationwide are dismantling workers’ compensation, slashing benefits to injured workers and making it more difficult for them to get care.

In fact, employers are now paying the lowest rates for workers’ comp than at any time since the 1970s.

Nonetheless, dozens of legislatures have changed their workers’ comp laws, often citing the need to compete with neighboring states and be more attractive to business."

Thank you 1171.
I am not an attorney.Anything I write should not be considered legal advice.I am writing from my own personal experiences, which is not from any sort of legal background. You should consult with an attorney over legal issues. In California, if you cannot get an attorney you can consult with an I&A officer.

Maybe just one more reason for a single payor health care system. Does Workers Comp system go away then ?

while there may be a single payer at the end of the chain, will there be separate billings or charge backs?
if so, how to track employers, carriers, and other parties share of the costs?
unless they do away with all insurance and coverages, any single payer medical costs will have to be allocated back so the single payer can be reimbursed.
