I recently had shoulder surgery and am in the recovery process. The doctors expect that I will make a full recovery in the next few month. I was recently offered a job at a company. This job requires some lifting which I cannot do until I am fully recovered. The training for this job is scheduled to happen in the next few weeks. I spoke with my doctor who recommended I do not start training until I am fully recovered. I asked the company for a delay in my training and they denied me and took back their job offer due to my injury. Is this something they can do?

Since your not a previous employee, yes, they can do this.
If you are unable to do the job, they have every right to not hold this job and recind the offer of employment and to interview other candidates for the position.
If your not able to do the physical demands of certain jobs, I wouldn't apply for them until your completely cleared by your physician.

they made the offer not knowing your true physical condition. for safety reasons they cannot give you duties you medically are restricted from performing.
the offer was made under different circumstances; once the circumstance changed so can their offer. they are not held to the original offer any more they you are.

Did the company know that you had an injury prior to the application? If you didn't disclose the injury, or the fact that you may or may not have to have surgery, they could use this against you, and may not offer you employment after you are healed.
