Hi, I hurt my back this past week and I'm back working full time with restrictions. My employer tells me that they are going to put me on fmla leave because of the restrictions. Would I qualify for workers comp? I live in Michigan.

Yes. if your wages are reduced due to a work injury you are entitled to partial disability payments.
make sure the employer notifies it's carrier of the change and reports the wage loss amounts.
it'll take a couple weeks to process the first payment.

I thought fmla was family medical leave act, not my medical leave act, if I was hurt on the job why would the state pay first, doesnt that take the responsibility away from the insurance carrier

He lives in Michigan so I'm not sure they have paid fmla. Here is IL we have fmla but nobody is paying to be off for it unless your company has some kind of deal where they want to pay you. They use fmla to hold your job open while you are off for WC
