Georgia: will I receive a settlement after my back surgery
#1
I herniated my L5,S1 disc 12/17/2012. I had surgery on 3/29/2013 the doc said he removed a grape size herniation and I have been recovering for a few days now and it looks like ive still got a ways to go.WC has covered all of the expenses so far, but my question is: will I receive a settlement offer b/c I have been told that a back surgery is considered a permanent injury? And if so how much should I expect?

Sometimes, but its to soon to say weather or not your surgery went well.. A failed surgery will have a higher impairment % and a non failed I believe 5 to 10% per level.. I don't wish a failed surgery because its not worth the beans you will get..

Thank you for your response.
So far my recovery is going very well! I hope there are no complications and that I make a full recovery. The greatest thing that can come out of this is for my pain to be gone for good and to be able to return to a normal life again and that would make me extatic!! But I have to be honest and say that I am hopeful that I would receive some sort of compinsation for a portion of my disc having to be removed from my body, which also means that disc will never be 100% again (which was directly caused by an extremely labor intinsive work invironment). I would even be happy if I received no monetary benefits, but if they would at least leave medical open in case something happened in the future so I would know that I would be taken care of if something happened since my employer dropped all of our medical benefits.
