Light duty assignment?
#1
This is for California.

the QME Dr. report stated light duty. I informed my employer 2 weeks ago yesterday of the report and have been on "light duty" since. However I work outside the office and never go in as its in another state.

My question is, nobody from my office has defined my light duty job. I am still getting paid 40 hrs but sit home all day waiting for a call or email to do something.

Now your going to say thats not bad and no it isnt but my employer is starting to play games and I would like a clear description from them on what I should be doing.

Should I leave well enough alone and wait for them to try to find something and play the stupid games or is there a time limit for them to provide me a job description or I go on workers comp? Should I be on their insurance carrier or what?

Thanks
MM

it's not your choice whether to collect disability or not. if there is work available within your restrictions, they don't have to pay temporary disability.

understood, however I have been given no direction, is there a time frame for them to give me direction or are they just looking for a way to get rid of me while I am on light duty?

My gut feeling is its cheaper to pay me for doing nothing than taking the hit for a TD claim with their insurance co?

1171, thanks your a wealth of info and quick response!

to further clarify: I have no idea if there is work available, nobody is telling me anything (employer) is still paying me 40 hours a week but starting to micro manage /harass for stupid stuff......should I be on them for light duty or just sit back and wait?

You can't change their behavior.
If you are having difficulty with the situation, you should think about changing jobs.
