Look At My List Of Injuries And Comment
#21
C5-6 2.7mm disc protrusion that abuts the thecal sac. There is left neuroforaminal narrowing. Left facet and uncinate anthropathy is noted.

C6-7 2mm disc protrusion that abuts the thecal sac. There is bilateral neuroforaminal narrowing. Facet and uncinate anthropathy is noted.

My case consists of 8 doctors. A neurologist, neurosurgeon, pain management specialist, two chiropractors, two physical therapist and a psychiatrist.

My neurosurgeon told me after going over the M.R.I. with me in detail that my spinal cord is being crushed in my neck. I have several protruding disc and several herniated disc and two broken bones in my lower back. Hence the need for both the surgery neccessary in my neck and back. I agree with the lower back surgery to fix the broken bones but I'm skeptical about the neck surgery. But the more I look at the M.R.I. and see how exteremly bad my spinal cord is being crushed in my neck.... trust me its bad.... the more I am thinking that its absolutely neccessary. Im taking percocets every 4 hours for pain and also a muscle relaxer, two different acid reflux pills and an anti-inflammatory. The pills get me pretty high feeling and numb the pain but it's just that... a numb feeling. I've been surfing since i was 6 yrs old and the doctor told me that i pretty much can write that off along with my job in construction. Which is all ive ever known being a 5th generation carpenter. But another thing I wanted to share that makes my situation a little more brutal is the fact that the guy i workered for exclusively freaked out when he found out that i was injured and layed me off. I am now homeless with no family or friends to fall back on since all my friends work construction and have a family themselves and are still suffering from the housing market collapse in 2008. BUT ANYWAYS.... I'm not trying to get a pity party in any way. I'm just trying to share the further difficulties I'm enduring on top of my injury. So there it is pretty much and again I want to thank everyone for the comments and ideas.
WOW AGAIN!!! I keep reading what everyone has posted and I am so thankful for all your GREAT information and opinions. Thank You for your prayers and I cant tell you what it means to have people who have gone through the similar things to talk with when theres nobody on the streets that can relate.

Thank You All Again.

ShatteredSurfer..... I know you have said you have accumulated these injuries through your work, but what was the straw that broke the camels back... There has to be an incident that brought you to need medical care... You say you have no family, were you married or are you married..? I'm so sorry to hear your doing this all alone, its rough enough to have to go through it... Us wisconsinites took a bad hit in the construction too, there was many that never recovered... It has been a slow process but things are slowly comming back.... My prayers are out there for you...

Thank you bronco54501 I appreciate the prayers. My injuries are from heavy lifting and working over my head doing residential construction. Remodels, Additions, etc over a few yrs. You know when your doing this kind of work its normal to feel sore and ache and I've endured alot of pain in my life and keep pluging away and not realizing the extent of how bad those aches and pains really where I guess? I mean I didn't have any particular accident at all.

So does your former employer have workers comp insurance? And I thought there had to be an "event" and it be reported within a certain time frame in order for WC to cover it. I have wondered when a person files a claim for say a back or whatever and then at a later date lets say the Drs. "discover" that your knees or shoulder was also injured but not reported in the WC claim because the back pain was so intense you didn't notice you had pain elsewhere in comparison. Can those injuries be added to the original complaint even though the time limit has passed to report them or are you just screwed on those? I'm thinking a person should just say "my whole body hurts but this ?? hurts the most". I am fortunate that I did report my knees hurt even though at the time they felt very little discomfort compared to my back. While my back is still my number one complaint my knees are also screaming louder than they did in the beginning. My first back surgeon said he wouldn't do it until I had to crawl into his office. Three years later I did and he did and after a year it was completely healed. Second time around he refused to do surgery and it healed on it's own. This time around no one has said one way or the other. Still in the testing, talking and deciding what course of action to take or not take. Hope you get the help you need. I will keep you in my prayers.

I read it and think genetic pre-disposition. That's not to say your work activity played no role but of the hundreds of thousands, no, millions of workers worldwide with the same and worse exposure you would still be an outlier.

Isn't it all irrelevant if he did not have a specific "event" for WC to cover it at all? Shatteredsurfer....was there an "event" and a WC report filed with your employer? The reason it's important is because most states have a specific time limit from the date of injury in which to file your report of injury. If there was an "event" and you did not file the clock is ticking and you might want to get the paperwork filed. If there was no event (specific) you don't have to worry about what WC thinks because they won't cover it.

If you file w/ your employer in the st of Oklahoma within 90 days is is considered cummulative. the doctors will have to sort out was is natural deterioration and what is repetative.
May my personal experience help others. No question is stupid.
