Back to Work
#1
I had lase spine surgery and I've been back to work since the end of Aug. 2012. The first month or so I've been fine. I am still better then before my surgery but every now and then I have some light pain.

I still have some numbness in my big right toe. I was told that it should go away in a few months. This was cause becuase they had to move the nerve during surgery.

My WC didn't cover the sergury so I had to go on disability to get the surgery. This was after the first WC doctor had told me that I needed the surgery.

My question is how long should this numbness last? Also how long should it take for my laywer to get a settlement from the IC? I was thinking about going back to the doctor to tell him about the numbness, but I still owe some out of pocket cost since the surgery did not go thru WC.

Not sure a/b the case deal... But I would definitely seek medical attention and ask the Dr how long does it take... may be a problem, or just not healed yet, either way I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Good luck..

I didn't stop having odd pains and numbness till about 6 months post surgery and didn't feel "normal" till right at a year. However they always say its different for everyone and might not ever go away.

I am assuming that you had some type of nerve impingement.

with that, Nerve regeneration can take up to a year and a half. Depending on how severe the impingement was.

A worse case senierio is that the nerves never regenerate, but that is not the normal.
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. After going back to school, I received my degree as a mechanical engineer. What can I say, it was the only way I had to beat the system.

I quess. I was told that I was having problem with the nerve becuase they had to move when they went inside my back. I have to admit it's a lot better then it was following the surgery. My leg would just kick out I am laughing at the now remind me of the first time it kicked I kick my fiance. LOL

Strange thing is that my DR. did sent me back to PT. However when I was in PT it seems to make my back hurt more.

Thanks everyone for your response.
