Settlement taking too long
#1
My boyfriend was hurt on the job back in 2009 and can't work anymore. The case was settled in his favor and an amount was agreed upon. His attorney keeps giving him the run-around about when he will be getting his money. The lawyer told him that he has to keep the money in escrow for awhile longer. His latest excuse is that he's waiting for the Attorney General to send him some paperwork so that he can release the money. My friend is beyond frustrated with this man and is beginning to think he's being cheated. Can anybody shed some light on this? Does it usually take this long for a settlement to be released? What does the Attorney General have to do with it? Worker's comp. has already signed off on the case.

each state has it's own rules governing workers comp.
your boyfriend should either contact another work comp atty or better yet the state bar.
they handle complaints against attys.
