Hi All,
We need rain, since June we've had less than 1" of rain fall where we live in south central KS. Ponds are dry or drying up, we constantly have wild animals wandering into our town looking for food that they would normally find close to water sources now dried up. Our water bills have averaged $80. a month keeping our lawn and garden watered. Farmers had little or no crop this summer due to the record heat and no rain.
Please pray for rain, KS, Ok and Tx desperately need rain. I wouldn't mind a monsoon coming in and dumping about a foot of rain as long as it was spread out over about 3 to 4 days. There is a chance of rain the next 4 days but I have a feeling it's going to miss us completely.

We have a chance of rain pretty much for the next 4 days, which would be a godsend for us. Both lakes that we draw water from are below 50% capacity.
My brother is an OTR flatbed driver, and the other day he and another driver took their trucks into either N.Dakota or Montana (can't remember what I was told) to pick up loads of the big round bales of hay. Ny brother said he felt like they needed an armed escort to get it to it's destination. People were literlly trying to take it off of the flatbeds.
I am afraid that things are going to get so much worse before they get better.

I saw on the news where Kansas Governor Brownback has lifted restrictions temporary on large trucks enabling hay haulers to travel.
There has been about 10 fires this week along the 4 mile span of highway near our home from people throwing out their cigs.
Living in the country the fires have been our fear with th high winds and dry conditions. I see the forecast calls for 40-50% chance of rain Sunday.

Man i would trade with you all, It has been the rainest season this year, records have been broken this year. so wet i have been try to have a tree co in to take out 2 trees for 4 months, they got one out and can not get the other as the ground is too wet, they have to drive throught my neighbors yards and they do not want to screw up their yards, heopfully by the end of Oct it will dry up enought for them to get it out for me... wish they would before the leafs all fall, as that would be that many less to clean up this year.

We were getting our share of rain, almost 3 weeks straight.. We have had no rain now for just over a week, but were getting hit hard by wind.. Lights have been dimming/ and if it keeps up we will have major fires because our leaves have been falling almost a week now.

We had rain in the beginning of the summer and had a really decent first cutting of hay....then the rain stopped...instead of the Okla farmers selling their hay to Okla ranchers...they trucked it to Texas where they are paying boat loads of money for it over 100 dollars a round bale....here it was going for 30 dollars....farmers wanted to make their money ranchers are watching their cattle starve or are selling them for next to nothing.....Hard feelings here in Okla between the two.....

We received 2" from yesterday afternoon thru this morning.
Just enough to lessen the fire danger a little. We need 3 weeks of a good steady rain to do any good.

I fear for the meat market in the next few months.
Jayne you are correct, we have been getting hay from other states for a few months now. There is nothing that can be done, other than wait for rain. Finally on Saturday we got some along with a tornadoe in san antonio. Both of those two are a rare occurance. I have been here for over twenty years and never had a tornadoe.
Now we wait and see what next year brings.
