I submitted a request for attorney, but unfortunately since I live in Oregon the search uses your phone number and I am only getting referrals to Oregon attorneys. My husband was hurt on the job in Santa Ana, CA. We were apt. managers. We were fired and evicted and my husband has had no treatement on his back and is still in constant pain after 1-1/2 years. We have attorney in California, but he is retiring and we have not received good representation from him. They have lied to us and are not competent. They can not advise us as to what to do and we are stuck in limbo. They say that we have to file with the Uninsured Employers Fund because the owner did not have WC or other insurance. My husband hasn't received a dime. Really all he wanted was his back fixed. Now I don't know what to do. Do I need to sue the owner personally? We should have several actions including employement, since he fired us. The eviction was illegal also. His process server lied and never served us. We need help. I contacted the Mehr Law Firm in California. They refused to take the case since "it's too complicated" and since we've had an attorney for over 1-1/2 years. I've never heard that excuse before. Can you help us?

On civil labor cases it's very hard to find a "good" attorney to take you unless there are big bucks involved; i.e. sexual harrassment.
You can file a complaint with the dept. of labor and they will try to resolve your dispute and/or let you know if you have a case worth persuing. They may be able to help you with a lawyer referral as well.
Take care!
