Need some help
#1
Hello this is my first post but i have some issues i need help with. First off i am 24 got injured at work in Aug of 2009 with a L5-S1 cracked disk. Had a Disketomy and fourminatomy Aug of 2010. but i still have a lot of pain in the am and at night before bed so the docs are looking at doing a fusion sense PT and Work hardening have made it worst little by little. but my main question is because my hobby is working on cars and i have a horrible neighbor who i taking pics of me all the time, when i work on the car and when i carry my 7 month old to the car. she is threating to send pics of me carrying a 20 lbs car front seat to my car, to my employer which i have not worked sense aug 2009, but in work hardening the insurance company knows i can lift 40 lbs. my work requirements are 70 lbs constant 100 lbs occasionally and up to 200 lbs with help which i am know where near. but my main question is do i have to worry about anything or is my case going to get hard? i have talked to my lawyer but he dosent seem to be concerned but tells me to watch out and i dont get it. has anyone else had this issue o and i am in MD and i just had an MRI last week confirming the need for a fusion and i know the MRI will force the insurance company to pay up but do i have to be ready for a fight?

make sure you discuss your activities with your doctor and make sure they are within your restrictions.
the doctor should make a note of the discussion for their records. once it's disclosed you are covered.
what you do not want to happen is to tell the doctor what you can't do and then have pictures of you doing it.
Reminder :
........Each state has their own comp system; POST YOUR STATE to get accurate information. Use the search feature to find information from similar questions.
THANKS FOR POSTING.

I with you jayne. My problems are S1-L5 area and my restrictions are 10 pounds. If I carried 20 pounds I'd be layed up for sometime.

As for your questions just make sure your within your restrictions. As they said if you tell them you can't do something and they have a picture of you do that you could be in trouble. If your neighbor does show them pictures of you doing allot around the house maybe they will decide they have a job you can do within your restrictions and put you back to work.
And as for the MRI forcing them to pay up don't take that to the bank.

Yea before my first surgery I couldent lift much but after I still have a disk bulge at l5-s1 as well as facet arthropy in l3 l4 -l5 s1 due to the injury but after 7 months of pt and 6 weeks of work hardening I am able to lift to around 40 lbs which I fell is horriable before I got injured I could lift 250-275 easy. But my 7 month old daughter is 17 lbs and I refuse to stop lifting her and I told everyone that but my doc dosent have me on restrictions just off work until further notice because my job dosent have light duty

Just curious, in your first post. You mentioned you are having problems with your " RIGHT ARM ". What is being done for the " right arm "????

I know what you mean in reference to lifting capabilities. I to find it hard to swallow that my body can not handle what it use to.

Take Care
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. After going back to school, I received my degree as a mechanical engineer. What can I say, it was the only way I had to beat the system.

I don't have any issues with my upper body. The only issues I have out side my lower back is my right leg falls asleep outta nowhere all the time and I can't sit on the floor for more than a few minutes with out my leg falling asleep but after my diskectomy I have no more pain in the leg just the falling asleep thing.
As far as lifting everythi g is because of my back I can still bench press around 200 lbs but it's when I'm up right that allmthe pain starts around 40-45 lbs

You need some rest and medical care. You should leave your work and job untill you are not completely fit. Take some healthy and energy food to recover your fitness. If you need any doctor's help you can ask us, we will give you reference of some the specialist.

Yea I haven't worked sense 2009 and been trying to rest as much as possible. It's kinda hard with a 7 month old that gets into everything. But I have a good doc, I saw him yesterday and they looked at my MRIs and are going thru with an L5-S1 fusion mid July. The only thing they see that will complicate things is that the MRI shows perminant damage to the nerve goin to my right leg. They just don't know how severe is is yet they have to wait till after the fusion
