So I have had my first Epidural shot(2 weeks ago) and it is NOT working at all! The doctor who gave me the shot said I did not want to get over two injections. So I guess I will go for one more, but if the second one does not work, whats next?! Emg shows nerve damage. are the doctors just wasting there time with shots or what?

All Competent dr.s will use the most conservative methods of treatment first.
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. After going back to school, I received my degree as a mechanical engineer. What can I say, it was the only way I had to beat the system.

Jamboski73 sometimes the 1st epidural will not work, where the 2nd or 3rd injection will work.
You won't know until you have the injection.
Good luck!

Yeah, like I say BK, I had my 1st injection already(3 weeks ago) but it has had NO effect. So I guess I will go for one more but thats it because the Doctor who gave me the 1st injection, said that I wouldn't get over two of them. Any idea on why he said 2 injections at the most? Thanks BK.

Most injections come in a series of 3, 2 weeks apart.
The doctor saying 2 injections could be because he does things differently.
Ask the doctor about having 3 injections, the first time I had mine the 3rd injection made all the difference in the world!

I have had 13 epidurals/injections in 2 years, not all in the same spot though... From what I hear 3 seems to be the lucky number, I had one back in Nov, and he was going to do 2 more 2 weeks apart.. Sometimes the series gives the full effect.

Thanks BK and BRONCO for the reply. I will take it as advice! I will surly ask the Doctor about the number of injections in series. Thanks again.
