BEWARE SPINAL IMPLANTS...
#1
There is often more to the decision to opt for spinal implant treatment then the chance at successful recovery from serious injury.
Sales, marketing, revenue generation, and increased medical fees often incentivise the medical community's choice of which treatment options {spinal Fusion (Interbody Cages and Pedicle Screw Systems) and Spinal Non-Fusion (Artificial Disc Replacement and Dynamic Stabilization)} to present to patients.

looks like they are taking a page out of Big Pharma's playbook:

The global spinal fusion implants market is expected to reach a size of $9 billion by 2016.
...
The presence of a large number of device manufacturers in the US and the availability of huge amounts of information both online and through other sources enables patient education and has contributed to high awareness levels among patients about the different treatment options.

1171 - although there is obviously a market and a profit being made, this does not mean that everyone who has spinal implants, has been coerced or is a victim of unethical business decisions for the sake of profits.

Everyone should be aware and have knowledge and get second and third opinions before having any type of surgery and should make themselves knowledgable about other alternatives, not just spinal implant patients.

without the lure of profit why would anyone bother to do the research and spend millions of dollars to develope any new meds or implant? would you get up and go to work day after day without the paycheck month after month?
