Thank you so much for this information, I get the feeling that my insurance company is operating on the basis that everyone that applies is not really injured. I still don't understand with all the doctors out there why I will not be seeing a doctor for the hernia until two weeks has elapsed. Not used to living in pain. To those who have endured this I salute you all.

Have been informed that my work is setting up firing me. It it legal to be fired while you are on workmans comp

a work injury does not give you immunity from termination.
if your employment is covered by FMLA you get 12 weeks of job protection and a cobra option for health insurance.
