Is this a benefit? Maryland
I recently injured myself (not on the job) and my job does not provide "light duty" work. My brother told me that since they do not provide that and I cannot go to work til the end of the month that I qualify for worker's compensation. I have never heard this before and was wondering if their is a benefit for that, which would be great as I have no income at all right now. Thank you in advance for any help Smile
your brother is in error.
workers' compensation is an insurance benefit that is only available to those with a work injury.

maryland may have disability insurance for those with non-industrial disability. check with your state agencies.

Brother is off his rocker. As you must be injured at work for it to ever become a issue of work comp.

It's possible you have short or long term insurance that covers you when injured outside of work. But, only you and your employer would know that. Remember seeing that commerical with the Duck on TV, where it shows people getting money for being hurt at home? That is the type of insurance that will pay you.

That is what I thought as well, but it never hurts to ask....that is my motto Smile thanks for the replies really appreciated.
