How to make worker's comp pay for re-education? - batfish55 - 05-30-2015

I got hurt, I had surgery, scar tissue became a problem, had surgery again, seemed to be OK, accepted medical settlement. Adjusted to new life, was promised $8,000 re-education voucher, went back to school.

Well, school's over now, and I owe around $50k in student loans, and that $8k would go a long way against that debt. When I was in school and I first tried to deal with worker's comp paying out, the school told me that they can't/won't/don't accept monies from worker's comp. Never did learn why, and given my major, I did NOT have time to screw around with politics. Worker's comp insists they ONLY pay money to a school, they will NOT pay that re-education money to my student loan servicer.

Now, I understand that they won't pay me directly: they want to make sure that money goes where it's supposed to, and I don't take it and blow it on a wild trip to Mexico, but why won't they pay the loan provider? (I mean, other than the obivious answer: they just don't want to pay)

Does anyone have any advice on how to get my worker's comp company to pay out? Anyone else had this problem?

have your state's comp court order them to pay.
