Workman’s comp laws in Hawaii
#1
Question

I have been off work for 6 weeks with no workman’s comp payments. I have been off work from the date of injury. I filed an accident report before I left my job that day and went straight to the ER. The Doctor has had me off work since then, it took a month to get approval for an X-ray, and I still haven’t received one check. I have maxed my credit cards and am overdrawn in my account. I thought i would at least get one payment every two weeks which I read is standard.
Today my HR department said I would be paid on the 30th for only the month of October, but she does not have any info about payment for the last two weeks in September. Yesterday was 6 weeks since my accident. I feel like I can’t get any straight answers. I work for one of the largest employers in Hawaii and feel like they should have known how to handle this situation with some sort of professionalism.

You are correct; you should have at least been given notice about any delays as well as who to contact for additional information. As you can tell from the number of posts on this board , there are many situations where things don’t go as the process was designed.
Maybe the state can help
