An apartment resident in Los Angeles reportedly blocked contractor Miguel Sanchez as he drove into a parking garage, and then threw hot coffee in his face while verbalizing racist insults this weekend, writes Avery Anapol of The Hill. “…Sanchez said he called the Los Angeles Police Department, who responded to the incident and told him that he would need to request a private person arrest, since officials did not witness the incident,” per the article. “Sanchez declined to move forward, saying that he was not severely burned, and did not want to hurt his relationship with the contractor.”

Charleston resident Iva Lou Burdette has filed a lawsuit against Fire Mountain Restaurants LLC doing business as Ryan's Restaurant and Linda Boling, alleging she was fired because of her age, writes Kristine Gonzales-Abella of the West Virginia Record. She is in her early 80s. She had worked for the restaurant for 11 years, and along with financial loss, was under emotional stress and embarrassment because of the alleged termination. “…Burdette seeks trial by jury, back pay and employment benefits, reinstatement or front pay, compensatory damages, attorney fees, court costs and all further just and proper relief,” per the article.
4) PA Transportation Co. Sued for Allegedly Defective and Dangerous Forklift
Philadelphia forklift driver James Bolduc has filed a lawsuit against Ward Transport & Logistics Corp. (among other companies under the same name), alleging a defective forklift led to spinal fractures when he fell from the machine, writes Nicholas Malfitano of the Pennsylvania Record. “…As Bolduc was attempting to back out of the truck, the truck suddenly and without warning moved forward, causing the forklift and Bolduc to fall backward, striking the ground and causing plaintiff to sustain serious and permanent injuries, the lawsuit says,” per the article. “…The plaintiff is seeking damages, jointly and severally, in separate sums in excess of $50,000 in compensatory damages, delay damages pursuant to Pennsylvania Rule of Civil Procedure 238, interest and allowable costs of suit.”
5) IL Couple Files Lawsuit Against Employer, Alleging Asbestos Exposure on the Job
James A. Jrolf Jr. and Barbara Jrolf of Belleville have filed a lawsuit against AGCO Corporation, Dana Companies and Zurn Industries, alleging James was exposed to asbestos on the job in his 37 years of experience, writes Lhalie Castillo of the Madison-St. Clair Record. He was diagnosed with lung cancer this spring. The request trial-by-jury, and damages at more than $50G.
