Independent Medical Examinations (IME)

Independent medical examinations (IMEs) are evaluations performed by an evaluator not involved in the care of the examinee, for clarifying clinical and case issues. This IME course describes and defines IMEs, their uses and challenges to the case manager and adjuster. The instructor will outline example reasons for ordering IMEs, who to select to perform an IME, and the cost-benefit for objective clinical data in reference to a Workers’ Compensation case. This course will assist the claims manager in understanding the uses and hinderances of IMEs to perform the ultimate goal of returning the claimant to work.
