OSHA National Emphasis Program — COVID-19 Disease

The new National Emphasis Program issued by OSHA on March 12, 2021, is the first action taken following the provision of additional enforcement funding under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Each of OSHA’s 10 Regions will systematically inspect at least 5% of each Region’s assigned inspection goal, focusing on several key industries.

Over 800 inspections should be expected by health care businesses, meat processors, grocery stores, warehousing, department stores, restaurants, and correctional facilities. Secondary industries to be targeted include key infrastructure industries, including agriculture, oil and gas, transportation, and many others.

Take steps today to prepare your business to implement a solid workplace infection preparedness plan!
