The time away was well needed I do agree.
I would like to thank all of you that made replies to my Vac Notice Post also. We had a good time, all except for my wifes Uncle that seemed to have a major complaining problem the whole time, from day 1. Even the Aunt told him off a few times. I might of said a few comments myself. First day was set-up day, and the heat was out of this world, my god it was hot and so humid, the air was even heavy. next day better, and rained. Thrid day, high winds. So boating was off those days mostly, but got some time in but was short. After the first 3 days, temp was nice, minor wind (calm) so to say, and fish started bitting. Channel Cats at that. I never seen them look so good neither. You would of thought they had rainbow trout markings all over them. They were perfect in every way. It was like God sent them to us. I'm serious too, they were like a gift. I've fished all my life, and never did I see Channel Cats that I could say looked so pretty. Sorry, no pictures, wifes Uncle was under my skin so to speak, and they didn't get taken. But I will say 2 and 3 pounders, perfect for eating. No 12 - 13 pounders this year, but still that is ok. Wanted to stay longer, but people had to go to work, so we had to leave. I would of stayed there a few more days, but need help with tearing camp down and getting boat oat and all. So I did leave with the rest of them. But all in all, it still was a great time for me and the wife. Sun-Tan, yeah baby, I got it. LMAO....

RE: Back from Vac...
I am so glad you had a good time. Why does it seem like there's always one person that wants to take away others enjoyment? It seems like that happens no matter what. I haven't been fishing in years. I used to love it, fishing is such a great way to relax.
Glad to have you back! |

RE: Back from Vac...
Ksgirl, one person, like a fish out of water. but my way out, was to get in my boat, and just find a nice sweet cove to calm me down. Stayed out when the wind let up all day too. Even if the fish were not hitting. So I stayed out of camp, as much as I could then. Those coves do come in handy, let me say that.

RE: Back from Vac...
Glad to have you back, and sounds like you had a good time in spite of the heat/humidity. I love camping and fishing, Will be taking sons boat out and doing some fishing on the Mississippi, He does have a nice self contained camping trailer ( new last year) but being he lives right on the ole Miss we wont need it, Did you say channel Cat, Have never seen one that you described, I like cat but they are boney, I love slab crappies and Bass, Were you at your favorite spot in Illinois? There is nothing better than hush puppies and cat fish or any type of sea food for that matter, along with fresh fried potatoes with onions. Hope you get to go again soon and this time without the headache ( uncle). What were you using for bait?.....
Ever been to Dorr county in Wisconsin and had one of there fish boils? Un disscribable and Soooooo good. Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. |

RE: Back from Vac...
I am glad you are back also...glad you had a good time. You deserved it. I love to go camping and my husband and I want to buy a new 5th wheeler when we get to Oregon. We will live close to a lot of great salmon fishing and trout. I love fish cooked on a open pit. Just the smell of the trees around and the night air begs me to come home...to Oregon...soon I hope. God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |
