Phys therapy again
Hi kiddos,
Once again looking for a little advice on my PT.

If you read a previous thread form me, I had an episode of floppy foot and leg numbness at PT last week that freaked out my threapist.

So today I go for my appointment. I told her I had another episode of the floppy foot and leg numbness on Sunday and I fell.

My fault totaly, we got a new computer and I sat way to long hooking everything back up and installing new software and transfering the old drive over ect. I stood up and down I went. My poor dog was laying behind me and the chair went over and smacked her butt. Scared the S**T out of her. I didn't hurt anything but my pride, because my loving husband saw it all. He helped me up though he did have a good case of the giggles again while doing it. And said he was going to get me a helmet to protect my melon. Got to love him, anyways I digress, back to the Pt stuff.

She had me do some new excersizes today. Side stepping along a counter and a rocking board ( who knew that this would be very hard to do), the bike, then finnished by having me walk around. My foot started to drag and I had numbness agian in the foot, leg stayed normal thank God. She had me go back into the room where she did some Strength tests and then I had electrical stim. 1/2 way through the stim she came in and said my hip extenders were not working at all when I walk, and told me I had to cancel all my remaining appointments until I see my surgeon again. So here are my questions.

1. Do I have to notify WC that my therapist had me cancel my appointments, or do they take care of that themselves?

2. Should I be worried over this or let it go, is she not telling me something, she said she was going to call my surgeon again today. She did not tell me to quit my home excersizes, but she did say not to do them often, and spread them out during the day, she had me doing them 3 times a day. Now with her new schedule I would only be doing them once a day and spread out during the day.

I know I have complained about therapy in the past, but I did actually look forward to the appointments ( not the pain after though). It was a trip out of the house which I don't get to do very often because of pain and pain meds. I also felt it was helping with the back muscle pain and the strength in my back, not so much the pain that goes down my leg or the numbness, which I think is the problem. Once again thanks for letting me share and any advice is welcome.
Kit.

RE: Phys therapy again
Hi Kit, I Hope You are Well Today!! During My PT and Work Hardening Ordeals after Surgery, I was Stopped at PT by the Owner of the Co. and told to Return to My Surgeon, and when They Tried WH on Me, the Same Thing Happened. When They Stop You Like that They Feel there is a Problem that has to be Addressed by Your Surgeon, Something isn't Right, so You should set an Appt. as soon as Possible. Your PT will Send a Report, with Me I had a Crushed Nerve Root that became Encapsulated in Scar Tissue, and PT was causing Me Severe Inflammation of the Nerve Root, thus the Pain. So My Opinion would be to Contact Your Attorney if You have One, and Then Make the Appt. with the Surgeon, an MRI May be Needed to Find the Problem! Best of Luck!!Wink

RE: Phys therapy again
Thanks Limbo, I do have an attorney I called him the day before my last Pt appt. Told him what has been going on, his opinion was muscle fituge, but I need to remember he is a Lawyer and not a DR. As for the Dr's appointment, I have one on the 23rd. I'm having a cat scan before to determine if my bone graft is healed enough to do a harware removal. My Surgeon has been aware of this issue since before I started hot and heavy with the PT. Which is why I think he hasn't responded to all the notes and calls my PT person has given him. I had an MRI done before I started the PT, didn't really show much because of the hardware interference, but did show that the foramen has closed off some on the right side when he compared the MRI to the one I had pre surgery. He said he couldn't tell if it was because of scar tissue. The PM doctor he sent me to said I wouldn't benfit from any more injections at the site because of scar tissue, so he said it would be a waste of money and needless pain to keep doing them. From what I read here the PM doctor seems to be one of the honest ones. So I guess I wait until Tuesday to find out what is going on. Keep my fingers crossed that this can be "fixed", I'm mentally not ready to give up so to speak.
Neither is my surgeon. He doesn't seem to want to give up until he sees me back down in the OR's working again.
