I like this one... gives whole new meaning to bigger is better!
http://www.cooks.com Wrote:HOMEMADE APPLE BUTTER

40 gallon copper kettle
Stirrers, wooden and human
Fire wood
Approximately 16 bushel apples (we use Staymans)
80-100 lb. sugar
1 oz. bottle oil cloves
1 oz. bottle oil cinnamon
Allspice

Peel all apples and slice then night before you are to make apple butter. Approximately 5 A.M. start five to go under kettle. Start with small amount of apples in kettle. Stir constantly. Gradually add more apples as they cook down. After all apples have been put into kettle cook approximately 4 hours. Then add 80 pounds of sugar and add more to your taste. Stir very rapidly; cook 1 hour then add your spices to taste. Cook 15 minutes. Pull fire from kettle when apple butter is right color, consistency to suit you. Yields 31-32 gallons of apple butter

RE: can you smell
As a kid growing up, I spent most Sundays at my grandparents farm with the rest of the family, aunts, uncles, cousins, And my grandparents had 9 children, Oh what memories, To bad kids today don't have what we had back then.

RE: can you smell
Today I am making Blueberry marmalade. This is what I will give for Christmas this year, as we are broke, everyone will get stuff I have put by.

The good news is,"You can get used to anything."
The bad news is,"You can get used to anything."
