RE: SCS Trial
1171 - Thanks for the info, and the sites. I'm not ready to pay for an article just yet. From the site, I followed some links and found some free articles, one of which is: http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journ...7240/issue
I really wouldn't even consider an SCS trial if I thought I had a good alternative. Not able to take meds due to kidney damage. I have found some relief thru aqua therapy, trigger point massage therapy, and acupuncture; but not lasting. Can only spend so many hours a day in the water! LOL ![]() AQA - Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it. I can just see you duct taped in that garbage bag. Made me chuckle! I too was surprised when dr. said 3-day trial. This dr. is one who doesn't like to be questioned. I did once, and now he calls me dr. chris. He's brilliant, but not good with people. The reason I decided on him for the procedure is when I had a bad reaction during my 3rd stellate ganglion block, he didn't leave my side, and held my hand until all my vitals were stabalized. That's the only time I've seen a caring person in him. Manley2 - Thank you! You have provided some very valuable information. I did remember you saying it took around 9 months to heal, so that is one reason I question the short time I was told. I'm doing so well and enjoying the aqua therapy that I would hate to give it up for a long period of time. Fireball, Thank you for the info. I have some of the same issues you do with meds and kidney damage. My SCS trial is for the neck; combination of cervical radiculopathy (permanent nerve damage), and RSD in the upper extremity. I'm sorry you are looking at getting a 2nd SCS, but if it works well for you, then that is what is important. My non-industrial PM doc wants to do a trial SCS in my lower back for the RSD in my leg/foot; but I'm going to wait on that one. I am able to control the pain quite well with aqua therapy, and I had a series of Lumbar Blocks early enough to make a difference. I can truly say the Lumbar Blocks were a God-send. My leg aches at various times, especially when I walk over 30 mins. now, but it is WAY better than even a month ago. Still, thanks for the encouragement. I always appreciate your input! Whew, lots of typing. Tired and getting ready to curl up with all my pillows and blankie!

RE: SCS Trial
My PM doc is the best. If you have a question he is very willing to take the time to answer it and more. There are like 4 doctors at the pain center and I always ask for him unless I'm in very bad pain and need to see somebody fast. He is the only one there that I trust to put a needle in my back. Having a doctor you trust is so important.
During my trial I made plans to get out so I could give it a good test and that is a must with only a 3 day trial. Just watch the bending and twisting and you should be fine. Hope you find some relief and just ask if you have any more questions. When the doctor wanted to give this SCS a try I know I felt like it was the first thing that was not going to be a band aid. We had tried so many differant injections with little to do lasting help. Be sure to let us know when you are giving this a try and we will say some extra prayer. |
