W/C issued second opinion (michigan)
Workers' Comp sent Joe on for a second opinion, they picked the doctor and set up the appointment..
we brought all medical records and films, and the DR asked normal questions, took other x-rays.. ( so far everything normalish) the problem is the DR refused to discuss with us what his opinion is, no possible treatment was discussed.. we were told he would tell the carrier.. is it legal to be left out of the loop like this? Don't they need to tell the patient what they think the course of treatment should be? |

RE: W/C issued second opinion (michigan)
The Second Opinion is being Paid by the Ins. Co., therefor They get the Reports and Suggestions. This Second Dr. You have gone to for the Opinion is not Your Treating Dr., They are just giving the Ins. Co. Their Opinion. If You have an Attorney They will Receive a Copy, if not, You May have to Contact the Adjuster to Your Claim and Ask for a Copy. Best of Luck!!
Failed Back Surgery, Chronic Pain, Totally Disabled. Knowledge is Power, Especially in the World of w/c. Learn as Much as You can about Your States w/c Laws, and don't Fight Battles alone, They Use Attorney's, and so Should You!! |

That's just it. An IME is not your treating doctor. They are there only to offer a medical Opinion to the Insurance Carrier. They don't need to tell you anything, and many wont. If you have an attorney the copy of the report will be sent to them. If you don't have an Attorney you can try and ask the Insurance Adjustor for a copy. Hopefully you might get it. Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. They are based on personal opinions, experience, or research and are "not to be taken as fact or legal advice", otherwise, always consult an attorney or a doctor. |
