Tax help in MO
Hi all: I was wondering about who to go to this year to do our taxes? We allways have done them ourseves, but with W/C thrown in the mix I think were going to need help. I called H&R block to see if workmans comp checks were taxable, and they had to call 3 different offices to give me an answer. First answer was: after the first $2000.00 everything is taxable, second answer was: yes it's taxable, and 3rd was: no, workmans comp is not taxable. This didn't inspire much faith in H&R block. So if anyone uses a tax pro, could you recomend a different company besides H&R Block. Thanks.

RE: Tax help in MO
Being as Our Taxes are Federal, I would Think that the Same Rule would Apply to All States. I have been Receiving W/C for 5 Years Now, My Brother-in-Law is a Tax Lawyer and a Corporate CPA, and I,m in Pa. and it's not Taxable. Now whether Your Individual State Taxes are Different, as Many States are, You May have to Check on State Taxes, but Here They are not Taxable at the State Level Either!Wink

Knowledge is Power, Especially in the World of w/c. Learn as Much as You can about Your States w/c Laws, and don't Fight Battles alone, They Use Attorney's, and so Should You!!

RE: Tax help in MO
Since it is not a Taxable item, you don't even need to apply it to your IRS tax return papers.

Unless your on SSDI and went over the allowable 80%. If you did, then it is taxable.
