Haiti
I wanted to make a donation to help the people of Haiti, but I was so afraid because of all the scammers. I finally wrote the check out to the American Red Cross in our area. I can't believe there are people out there who would take advantage of people in such a catastrophic situation, but unfortunately there are

RE: Haiti
within hours creeps were making money off of it...there was one cnn news was telling about you could send a text and the phone company would charge your phone bill for 5 dollars and then the last two presidents have a fund and of course the red cross and Sal Army...mine went to Sal Army......
Everyone wants to donate blankets and clothes but there just isnt the space or man power to handle the load of things that would come in to seperate and invatory and then send in...it is much easier for them to take money and buy a load of blankets they come in presorted...all the water comes in a load and the rice in another....so much easier for those on the ground to know this container has blankets that one tents ect...can you imagine getting millions of boxes of mixed can goods blankets and such....the sheer volume would tax the profesionals time and energy just to sort thru.....to open thousands of regular sized cans to feed thousands? after Katrina we here were overloaded with donations.....truckloads of items that had to be sorted.....in the time it took us to presort and get it tagged and bagged....they already had walmart sending truckloads of diapers and water ect...what I am trying to say is send money its easier for all conserned ;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: Haiti
Red Cross & Salvation Army are both good non-profits to donate to for Haiti.
Both have connections to United Way and their books & programs are audited by local and national. |

RE: Haiti
I just watched CNN and it seems that people from all over are trying to help, Thank God for people helping people. Both former presidents also warned about scammers. These people should be ashamed that they are doing this and in my eyes should be prosecuted if they are caught.

RE: Haiti
I went with the Red Cross which is what I do for every disaster like this and off and on when nothing is going on if I have it.
God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |

RE: Haiti
I had to quit watching it on CNN. The one remaining Dr. was checking an infants skull to see if it was fractured and I started to cry. I will watch now and then, but it breaks my heart to see these people suffering the way they are and there isn't anything I can do , but send a donation.

RE: Haiti
Some are saying to hold back at this time as there will be a need later on when they start to put the country back together....... So far there is enough coming in to feed, water, and medical. Even if it is slow reaching the people, There are many problems with looting, I don't understand some of these young people, They are stealing from the mouths of the babys, young and elderly.........
I also sent my donation to the Red Cross......... Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. |

RE: Haiti
My church also took a special offering this morning which 100% will go to Haiti. I am sure most churches are doing the same. What a terrible heartache to see such a catastrophe and only able to help monetarily.
Let Go, and Let God...... |
