H1N1
After waiting for my Dr to decide if I should have the vacine. I go this afternoon for my flu shot.

I had the regular flu vacine earlier, but because I am med sensetive, and have a compromised immune system, (Graves Disease ) I had to wait for my PCP's approval.

Have you all been vacinated????.

RE: H1N1
Funny you mention it. I had my regular flu shot in Sept and Bill di in Oct after his bout with pneumonia. We both got our H1N1 today.

RE: H1N1
I have gotten the Reg Flu shot and the Pneumonia shot, and this week I will be getting the HINI flu shot.

H1N1 they think after the weather breaks is coming back strong, so I do think a little extra protection will help.

When I took my grandson to his doctor for his shots, they offered 2 different type of the H1N1, a shot which they said is dead cell, which yes we want, but the doctor said the Nasal spray one they offer is a live cell, and I said no to the live cell. So, yes, you still need to ask questions when getting this stuff.

RE: H1N1
when we were in the pre surgery holding area for my sisters biopsy the nurses were refusing the shot......when I asked why they said the H1N1 flu was not bad as flus go it was mild except for those with other health issues....the vacine came with its own set of problems that could be worse than the flu itself...I had heard this from my own Doc as well when the shots first came out he also was not getting one....My parents Doc also was not getting one and was not advising for the healthy to get one....

RE: H1N1
It has been advised against for people with MS. People with MS take drugs to lower their immunity and then to give them a virus would ensure some sort of reaction so no, I have not and usually do not take it. Red

RE: H1N1
Thanks Tuffy...very informative. Neither Bill or I have had a reaction to it. He is in remission ( and really the one lung I think is the most improtant for him) and I am a diabetic so it was a no brainer for us. Both get a regular flu shot every year and both got pneumonia shots. I always figure better safe than sorry.

I had the flu when I was 7 months pregnant with my deceased daughter. Took until I delivered to get rid of it....I thought I was going to die for 2 months. She never had the flu in her 21 years and I haven't had it since. Amazing....Smile

RE: H1N1
I Fall into the Category with My Injuries and COPD to Receive the Shot as Part of the First Groups, but when I saw how Short the Supply was, I Opted out so Someone else could have the Shots that May have Needed it More than Me. Now that it's becoming More Available I don't Think I'm going to get it, I am so Tired of Throwing All of These Medicines in My System!!Wink
