Carpal Tunnel & the computer
My question involves the use of the computer.

I have carpal tunnel & ulnar nerve entrapment of the right hand & arm

I have problems using the mouse on my computer, clicking it causes intense pain & burning.

I can compensate witht the left hand on the keyboard but havent been able to with the mouse.

I am also having problems with driving as my arm goes to sleep, and I worry about safety.

I do have to wait for the judge's decision before I start medical treatment.

Anyone have knowledge of any adaptions I can use to replace the mouse on my computer?

Bummer Knees

RE: Carpal Tunnel & the computer
Change your mouse configuration over to just keyboard use then.

There are on the Market called anti-vibration gloves used for while driving. They help some also.

If the work comp Insurance has denied coverage, take the letter and get your BCBS to pay for the surgery, and get it fixed.

RE: Carpal Tunnel & the computer
Bad Boy how do I change this on the computer setting?

My niece is legally blind and has an assistive tech plan as a part of her educational plan at school. I've worked with the coordinator of the program and will e-mail her to see if any assistive devices can be used.

With my daugter I adapted a pedal switch into a pressure switch to use with a communication device. Cost about $10.00 at Radio Shack.

The only written denial on treatment of the arm is in the proposed MSA.

I see the attorney Monday and will ask him to speak with the judge this week.

I see the primary doctor this week, (he has been pushing me to get the surgery scheduled) and I imagine he will now tell me to get it done.

Been trying to figure out how to pay for the surgery.

Well keep putting the surgery off, and the problem can cause Nerve damage... Just remember, if not trying to add this to a work comp claim, you would be done with this by now...

RE: Carpal Tunnel & the computer
I do regret addidng it to the claim.

I should have kept quiet when I was having problems with the arm.
Told my attorney about the arm, and it was with his "pushing" I added it to the claim.

I did refuse to add the left arm and right ankle.

And yet your attorney told you, if need be, he/she would get you a letter saying their not related to your work comp injury if there was a problem. Makes a person wonder on how the attorney is really thinking doesn't it?

RE: Carpal Tunnel & the computer
He is a good attorney, but sometimes I do not understand his thinking.

What I need to say to him is, "Explain to me why you are saying this"
and I do not do say this enough.

I did learn from my attorney, the attorney for the insrance company is who offered to get the letter saying the back & arm are not related.

RE: Carpal Tunnel & the computer
I was able to wear the CT splint most of the night and that is helping with the pain and burning today.

Hubby is going to have to take the kitchen knifes away from me, I did a good job of cutting myself this morning.

RE: Carpal Tunnel & the computer
Bummer please be careful. When my claim was denied I didn't do anything with BCBS. I went to the Dr.s , they billed WC, got a denial and billed my BC. It's as simple as that. I never got a letter from anyone for anyone. They all did it themselves. It''s acutally easier. Please take care.

God is never late.

RE: Carpal Tunnel & the computer
Thank you Cap.

My Medicare is primary with BCBS being secondary.

I meet with the wc attorney tomorrow and will see what he suggest.

And I have an appointment with the primary doctor Friday, I know my doctor will not be happy with me. last I saw him in December he told me the surgery needs to happen now.

That just didn't work for me, haveing surgery before Christmas with having children in the home and one that still believes in Santa.
