impairment ratings require a physician to take hours of extra training to do right, they are not something you can pickup at a glance or even conceptually understand
without a lot of background and related experience. many physicians specialize in just doing ratings in certain bodily areas like spine or upper extremity.

it's done on purpose so it can't be easily reverse engineered. you can't get a "menu" of impairment values before you are rated and try to pick out how much you want to shoot for ahead of time.
ratings are customized for each claim with a massive number of variables so each worker gets their own rating and no two are ever identical no matter how much their injuries have in common.
that's why its practically useless to ask about any other workers settlement and think it might have any relation to how their claim will be paid.
Most don't understand that and continue to search for settlement figures.

My question had nothing to do with getting a settlement. Nor was I asking for any other workers for their settlement. I was asking how much of a disablity rating ones got as related to their well being. Being told I would be disabled due to the surgery concerned me and knowing everyone is different, just wanted to get one's percent of recovery. I guess I did not form the question correctly, implying I was concerned about a settlement. 'That's why its practically useless to ask about any other workers settlement', sorry 1171, didn't mean to mislead my intent of the question.

RE: Help with rating
not a problem.
I realize you weren't asking a settlement question.
the board is read by many; each looking for part of an answer to their comp situation.
your question gave me an opportunity to provide a bigger picture to the many who stop by and don't post.
at some point you may be concerned or curious about the impairment benefit or how that part of the system works.
stop by we'll try to help.
be well.
