Change of meds
Hi Everyone
Hope you all had a great holiday. I went back to taking Lyrica for my nerve pain and I must say for the past 3 days I have cut my Norco use in half. I took Lyrica in the past but stopped it because it wasn't helping other then to give me weight gain and constipation. I have been taking it now for about 6 days now and so far so good. I can actually go a whole night of sleeping (except last night). I hope this continues

tpm...I am so glad you're getting relief from the Lyrica....I pray it continues and gets better everyday.

RE: Change of meds
Oddly Enough, I take 2400mg. of Neurontin for Nerve Pain, and although Lyrica is Very Similar, I use 150mg. pr Day of it for Restless Leg. It has Helped Me Tremendously, and Added a Bit to a Better Nights Sleep, I only have the Pain now to Deal with. Why this Works I don't know, but I'm Surely Glad it does!! I Hope You have Great Luck with it this Time!!

RE: Change of meds
TPM, have you had any new Films taken now since your most current Surgery? Not just X-rays, but MRI or Cat Scan also? Also could you detail your pain areas for us?
I do think in your case that it is going to be very Wise on your part to also get a second Medical Opinion going from a Neurosurgeon, and maybe one from a Spine University Hospital. They are based on personal opinions, experience, or research and are "not to be taken as fact or legal advice", otherwise, always consult an attorney or a doctor. |

RE: Change of meds
Hi tpm,
I sure hope you have finally hit on a med that will help you to be more comfortable. It does cause weight gain...at least it did me. IMO, That's the downfall of it. I'll gladly take the extra weight over relentless pain , anyday! I pray it continues to help you endure. Lilly Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless! |

Bad Boy Bad Boy Wrote:TPM, have you had any new Films taken now since your most current Surgery? Not just X-rays, but MRI or Cat Scan also? Also could you detail your pain areas for us? Bad Boy I have had an MRI back in October which only showed my C3-4 herniation above my C4-5 fusion. Previous to that my C5-7 fusion. C5-7 fused correctly but to date my C3-4 has not begun to fuse. Surgery was in March 09. I had gone to another Neurosurgeon for a second opinion and he feels I may have some nerve damage coming from my C5-6. He said surgery would be too invasive and recommended I move to a dry climate. Easy for him to say. I also sent my films to Special surgery hospital in NYC but the only advise given by them was to see a Rehabilitation Doctor. I have an appointment this Thursday with my Neurosurgeon and I'll let you know what he says. Ex rays to be taken Pain wise I have constant "compression feeling" like someone heavy is sitting on my shoulders. I have constant shoulder and shoulder blade pain on both sides as well as my upper back and back of head. The muscles going from the tops of my shoulders up the side of my head is like a burning feeling (both sides, they seem to take turns as to which side is worse) The head pain as gotten worse over time. Right now it feels like someone is squeezing the back of my neck. I also get tingling and numbness NOW as I'm typing from my pinky finger and ring finger on right hand. More so the ring finger. Again that is why the second opinion Doc thinks it is coming from the original surgery. Constant 24-7 pain is at the back of neck and right below it. I find by holding my neck (front) it takes some pressure off but my wife goes crazy every time she sees me doing it (which is always). I am still going to physical therapy 2 to 3 times a week since April. My therapist can't believe how tight my muscles are around my neck and back. The C2-3 is especially tight and she can't seem to relax them. Nothing we do makes it any better. She now is just working on my "core" muscles to keep everything working And thanks Lilly for your prayers Take Care and Be Well Tom |

RE: Change of meds
TPM, Your Muscles being so Tight is a Sure Sign that Something else May be Wrong. I know in My Instance My PT Therapist Stopped My Sessions and Returned Me back to My Surgeon Twice, His thought Process was that the Muscles Tighten to Protect the Spine when it's Injured, and if You can't get Them to Release, There's an Underlying Problem! That's what Prompted Me to Fight for a Second MRI and My Scar Tissue Issues were Found! I Wish the Very Best for You My friend, Maybe Your Appt. will Shed some Light on the Problem, or at Least Steer You in the Right Direction!
