Limbo you hit the nail on the head. We have to stop things before the happen but it's so hard to make folks understand that. Its like all this bull about these new scanners at the airport. People want to be safe in the air but don't think they should be bothered by any security. They think people will see how fat we are, not like we can't tell anyway. On 9/11 we had the kind of airport security the people wanted because if before that you would have asked people to even take thier shoes off they would have been so mad. Too many people live in this land of freedom and think they should not have to be bugged by any of this and nothing will ever happen to them. Wake you. Obama wants this to be a new world but until we start to care about others thats never going to happen.

Manley...well said...you are so right about people wanting to be free but not wanting to pay any price for it. It no longer comes free if it ever did because of the ugly changes all over the world.....everyone wants to be top dog.....and if they're aren't they blow themselves and others up.


Limbo..I say it again...How I would love to be back in the 50's when I was a child.

I wonder Cappy if it really was any better....I mean back then we didnt have instant access to news or stats.....A parent could beat their children or a husband his wife and the cops looked the other way was it any better? or did we just not know?

Jayne...I think alot of abuse went on when we were kids and we just didn't hear about it in the paper or news. Maybe it's a feeling of of being a kid without any problems that I long for I just feel we all came out alright. I worked around High School students for 20 years . The changes that took place in appearance , attitude, drugs, sex.......were really disheartening. Parents never around I think is a biggie. I know most need two incomes but the children suffer so much. I really feel that no one can give their all to a career and children so one has to suffer. It's usually the children. Idon't know what got me started on that but anyway , I do think the world had it's problems and we hear more of it now but I also think because of more drug use, free sex, low incomes, etc. more of it goes on today. JMO.

I to believe it is a morals problem......we dont need a TV in every room or 100 dollar jeans on our butts....but this generation is so spoiled...My 11 year old grandaughter got a laptop for christmas......a laptop good grief....the green eyed monster sure came out in my 11 year old when she found out that.....but we have one desktop for the kids and it has all kinds of filters on it and they get one hour a day on it.....I have found out we dont need 2 incomes we need to live within our means....and your right Cappy we didnt sit inside all day watching TV and the news yuk I didnt wanna watch that...I was out on my bike picking up pop bottles and trading them for penny candy....there was one that was half yellow half red I remember it was a favorite and was 2 cents but I could get 2 for each pop bottle I brought in....

Bill and I were just saying that the other day, Jayne. We got up , ate breakfast did our chores and went out to play. ALL DAY! I know progress is a great thing especially in medicine BUT the kids today sit in from of video games, computers, etc instead of getting fresh air.
Morals have gone straight down the toilet, manners have gone with them. Very sad.

I Used to get Up as a Young Guy, do My Chores, Grab a Salt Shaker, and a Pocket Knife and I was gone until the Street Lights Came on!! The Salt Shaker and Pocket Knife were to Raid Gardens When We got Hungry, so We didn't have to go Home to Eat!! And Mumbly Peg was Fun Also!!

I lived on a farm growing up. It was up at 6:00 to feed & water the animals, and do the outside chores.

Then get ready for school.

On days there was no school we trained the horses, or worked on 4-H projects.

And it was fun My kids wish we were back then......they miss the time that they grew up...so very different from now as they are in their 30's. My oldest with the 2 children....is lucky enough to be a stay at home mom and she is on them about morals, manners, etc. She talks to them , explains right from wrong, I am so proud and wish they could grow up in a simpler time.
