Second Claim or Not?
Live in Ca. Work injury fractured right big toe, fracture has healed, however, now the Doctor's say i have "CRPS", is this considered a second claim or does it apply to the initial injury? Merry Christmas to all!, remember Jesus is always there for you! Thank you ahead of time for your info!

RE: Second Claim or Not?
On Saturday I went to a foot specialist for department of Social Services, He told me I have "CRPS" I have also been told by other Dr's I have CRPS" wHAT HAPPENS AFTER THIS? Will I still need to go to W/C Dr's any more? The State Dr's said they were going to request I get medical and cash, or do they just say that to everyone? Sense I have "CRPS" in my right foot what is the next move?

RE: Second Claim or Not?
This determination will require medical evidence. what does you doctor say is the cause?
If it's work related the doctor has to notify the carrier/employer. if the carrier disagrees they are entitled to a second opinion thru the Qualified Medical Examination process. see fact sheet E http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/iwguides.html if you injured yourself a second time at work then it would be second claim;if it's from the first injury then it's part of the original. |

RE: Second Claim or Not?
It is well advised by many doctor's if CRPS is suspected, that you should get a referal, to see a Specalist that handles CRPS patients. Just saying you have it, or saying you might isn't going to fly well. You need more further Diag on this now. Seek a referal.

RE: Second Claim or Not?
Do I need to call my doctors office and see if they can refer me to a CRPS doctor or is a foot specialist good enough?

RE: Second Claim or Not?
Well, put it this way, if they don't offer a referal, then how else you going to get one if you don't speak up to get one? One must do, what one has to do. Try to stay ahead of the playing field, and not fall back 3 steps.

RE: Second Claim or Not?
Trust me I have been driving my husband up the wall trying to "stay ahead of the game" Keep getting run around from doctors I'm sure my chiro new i had CRPS before he sent me to the foot specialist, now i have to wait until 1-6-2010 to beg him for a referal to a crps dr. and hope he does it without me staying on him, ya more stress that's what i need. thanks BBBB. I waited 1 month from the time he said he was going to send me to a foot specialist, and he still never referred me or put any such thing in his report, I ended up callin my attorneys office and got on to them about it, I wish i didn't have to but i did, I don't understand this and I wish with all my heart that I could trust these doctors or attorneys, but i don't, I can't even stand talking to them because i don't want to hear lies just the truth, so I mentally can prepare myself for my not so great future. Sorry BBBB I hope you don't take this against you I'm just tired of everything!
