Not really sure what it might be. Have some college credits from few years ago. Question. My lawyer is writing an settlement proposal up. Is their anyway where I could get allowance for re-training? Once again, great job.

RE: The old REDNECK and school
WTG AQA, congrats!!!
I'd like to go back to school again, after my oldest gets done Dec. 2010. Pharmacy, something I'd be good at, I'll have a hard time with the math. Problem is the Pharm Tech course costs $13,000. It pays well though and with my hospital background I don't think I'd have a problem finding a job, I hope.

RE: The old REDNECK and school
I am glad that you posted your school programme for the year. It is almost hard to believe, after reading what classes you are taking, that you want to go into mechanics. Some of those classes would kill me outright! I know, though, if you keep focused you can do just about anything. I remember taking my first year on line in BA, that I really loved the learning. And when I started to work in mathematics I really believed I would never learn it. Eventually I did. I could also pretty much measure my confidence and mental capabilities each time I finished a class. I was struck dumb by some of the things I was able to do!!!

I have been toying with the idea of getting back to school so that once all of my surgeries are done I can get into a good job. It is an inspiration to see you doing exactly that.

RE: The old REDNECK and school
BG, I wish you the best. I still need some 32 classes to go. I wont have any ides of a completion date until this time next year. Either the summer or fall semester I will transfer to a University. It is a much further drive and I am not sure how that is going to effect me.

Izell, I would check with all your state services. In my case, wc has nothing to do with my schooling. I am using state services.

BB1958, I know what you mean about math. Last year I had to start with the remedial, of remedial, of remedial math. I thought they were going to start off talking about apples and oranges. LOL. Anyway, I spent three semester in remedial algebra (spring, summer I, and summer II). In the fall of last year I took college algebra. If the oppertunity comes along, I say "go for it".

Bagpussinamerica, My working back ground is auto mechanic, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Getting a degree in mechanical engineering falls right in line with most of what I have done. The differnce is, after getting the degree, I can rejoin the work force and not use my hands as much as before. In other words, I will spend alot of time behind a desk. All the course of have done so far are just the core classes. After the up coming spring semester. All of those will be done.

If you are serious about going back to school after the medical has been handled. You may want to do some reaserch now.

Thank you all for your kind words.

8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom.

RE: The old REDNECK and school
At one time i checked here in Ohio about going back to school myself. Since I am considererd disabled my the state standards, they would pay for me to go back to school. They would pay for the school but there is no monthly income with it. That is why i did not go back after having my first cervical surgrey back in 2003. So check out your states as AQA said there may be state programs that will pay since you have a disability.

AQA...all I can say is that you are an inspiration to all IW especially younger ones. There is life after WC.....you've proved that. God bless. I am proud to know you.
