Sweet Tooth...sorry I can't help. I am the most untalented person in this area you could ever imagine.

RE: i need you all
sweet tooth..I have been looking for a poem. I have found several great poems, but what I am up against is that I don't know the man or your feelings for him. Could you describe him to me and how you feel about him. For instance, what has he done to make an impact in your life, how has he affected you life and to what extent. If you could answer some of those questions I may be able to help you. I use to be the one who would write all the Christmas and Easter plays, conduct them etc. I loved Mother's day because it was a great time for testimony and poems. If you have found what you need already and do not need my help, I just want to thank you for giving me a great day. It felt really good to review the poems and some of them brought back memories or good times to me. Thank you for this thread.. Carol

RE: i need you all
Hi Tweety,
From reading your description of your pastor a few thoughts came to my mind that I will share with you. I heard you saying that your pastor is:
1. A strong man who inspires his congregation to care for others as they would themselves.
2. A soft spoken man that influences those around him to love one another.
3. A prayer warrior in God’s army that has earned the trust and confidence of everyone he comes in contact with through the life he leads.
4. A man of integrity that shows love through the sharing of himself and God’s word.
5. A man who makes a difference through his mere presence which creates hope in people.
A scripture comes to mind that I think sums this man up the better than I could ever write and it is found in John 10:10
I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance.
While this scripture is referring to Jesus Christ…as Christians we strive to be more Christ like. It appears that your minister is honoring that definition through the life he lives before you and his congregation.

I found a prayer that I think may fit this definition of a man.

Lord, help me to live from day to day
In such a self-forgetful way
That even when I kneel to pray
My prayer shall be for others

Help me in all the work I do
To ever be sincere and true
And know that all I’d do for you
Must needs be done for others

Let “Self” be crucified and slain
And buried deep; and all in vain
May efforts be to rise again
Unless to live for others.

Here is another poem that I found interesting. My brother pastors a church and so I understand a few of their difficulties in the role itself.

The Pastor’s Plight
If he is young, he lacks experience: if his hair is grey, he’s too old for the young people.
If he has several children, he has too many; if he has no children, he’s setting a bad example.
If he preaches from his notes, he has canned sermons, and is too dry; if he doesn’t use notes, he has not studied and is not deep.
If he is attentive to the poor people in the church, they claim he is dictator; if he makes no suggestions, his is a figure head.
If he uses too many illustrations, he neglects the Bible; if he doesn’t use enough illustrations, he isn’t clear.
If he condemns wrong, he is cranky; if he doesn’t preach against sin, he’s a compromiser.
If he fails to please somebody, he’s hurting the church and ought to leave; if he tries to please everyone, he is a fool.
If he preaches about money, he’s a money grabber; if he doesn’t preach spiritual giving, he is failing to develop the people.
If he drives an old car, he shames his congregation; if he drives a new car, he is setting his affection on earthly things.
If he preaches all the time, the people get tired of hearing one man; if he invites guest speakers, he is shirking his responsibility.
If he receives a large salary, he’s mercenary; if he receives only a small salary, well it proves he isn’t worth much anyway.

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for. I have not had a lot of time today to work on this. I just sort of threw it together with my thoughts and then looked for a poem. Maybe it will get you to thinking. Sometimes that is all I need and then the light it and it starts flow. I think that you have enough feeling in your heart if you just stop and think for a moment about how this man has an impact on your life.

From the heart is always the best way to say to someone thank you and that he or she has made a difference in your life.
Let me know how it all turns out for you and for the pastor. God bless you and your congregation.

Carol

RE: i need you all
Hi Sweet tooth,

Sorry I titled it tweety. I am glad that I could help, but the inspiration is in side of you. You just have to reach down inside and say what is in your heart and your pastor being the man that I believe he is will know and understand far greater than any group of words could ever say. Lots of love...Carol
