Question for Still In Limbo and Bad Boy
I have seen that you both have permanent disabilities and I take it that it is from back problems. My question is when did you realize you weren't getting better?
I had my second laminectomy/discectomy five weeks ago. I know it's still early, but the last time I had this surgery (four years ago) My leg was completely better by now. This time my leg still "feels" swollen (it's not) and I have the electric shocks that go from my foot up to my knee. I am not in bad pain, but there is still alot of discomfort.
I guess my real question is, why am I still feeling this when the last time this happened I was better by now?
I do not think I have any permanent disabilities. I am just concerned that it is taking so long this time.
Thank you so much for your wisdom and help.
By the way, I know Bad Boy is on vacation, but maybe he will see this when he returns.
Thank you again!

RE: Question for Still In Limbo and Bad Boy
The longer a Nerve is impinged, the longer it takes to heal. This injury may have been a bit worse than the other hence a longer recovery period. My PT got unbearably painful, and I requested another MRI which showed the Scar Tissue that caused my disability. I would give it a little more time, and Best of Luck!!Wink

RE: Question for Still In Limbo and Bad Boy
Thank you for your reply. I haven't had any pt since a month after I was injured. How long after surgery did you start your pt?
I guess the nerve could have been hurt worse this time. Last time I was hurt for nine months before surgery and my leg hurt but it was mostly numb. This time I was injured for three and a half months before surgery and my leg has been extra sensitive, electric shock feelings and deep spasm feelings the whole time.
I don't know. I go to the dr next week, hopefully this will all be over soon.

RE: Question for Still In Limbo and Bad Boy
PT usually starts 6 weeks after surgery if you are healing well. I hope everything goes well for you, if you've had surgeries before and Scar Tissue wasn't an issue, it probably won't be this time. It just may take a little longer due to the length of time and the severity that the Nerve was Impinged. My S1 Nerve Root was actually crushed, and the Scar Tissue still holds pressure on the root, and every time I swing my Leg to walk, I aggrivate the nerve. I can only plan a couple of Hours a day out of the House moving around, because the nerve becomes inflamed, and the pain makes it too hard to walk. Good Luck, and ask any other questions you may have anytime!!Smile
