Can a PA give a deposition?
Hi All,
I'm seeing my doctor's PA tomorrow for my left hip. Can't wait any longer for the courts to decide, pain is too bad. My own doctor won't be available until next month.

My lawyer said that I need to see the doctor, to get the doctor's opinion. Why can't a PA give a deposition or an opinion?

Thanks,
BB

RE: Can a PA give a deposition?
I've been to the PA on the arm. The PA consulted with the doctor and wrote a letter to the attorney and it is being used in court.

RE: Can a PA give a deposition?
That's what I thought, as long as the PA consults with the doctor (which legally they have to anyway), it could be used. Thank you.

RE: Can a PA give a deposition?
the PA can be deposed.
Their deposition cannot be used as evidence of the existence of disability nor as the basis of a judicial decision on compensibility under most work comp laws.----- similar to physical therapists, pharmacologists, some psychotherapists (usually MSWs) faith healers, most acupuncturists, etc.
there are restrictions on who is considered a physician for work comp purposes.
a PAs license and work comp law restricts their function to following treatment recommendations.
