should I apply for Social Security Disability?

When my employer put me off work it was on disabilty because they were fighting the WC. They told me to apply for SSDI. When I called and spoke with them I told them I didn't even want to do this but they told me to do everything my employer was telling me because if not that could screw up things they couldnt fix. Not sure why but I applied, been turned down twice and now waiting for a hearing and I've been off 22 months now
