You don't just leave work, or quit your job, as long as they were allowing you to work with medical restritions.

They can not hold your tools or tool box for any lenght of time. Even if you owed the employer money, without a court order they can't hold that tool box.

When wishing to remove tools and they employer wont, a simple call to have Police present, will get you those tools, or you could have them arrested on the spot.
