Keep on topic, a promise to this forum by me
Hi All,
I realize I'm reasonably new here but I do thank each and every one here for the warm welcome. I read the post about those who don't visit here anymore or who have scaled back due to abuse, hurt feelings, the politics and I find alot of sadness with that. It is my promise here and now that on the actual boards here I will not discuss politics outside of the work comp situation. We need to be united here, united to make the work comp system one day work better. To share our knowledge, to lift others up, offering prayers and encouragement. We all have views and yes I'm new here. But can we unite to just help each other and not bring in the ugly politics. Sure I'm opinionated, very conservative. But that isn't why we're here. If anyone wishes to email me privately to discuss political matters bring it on, I look forward to it. Reading name after name of who is no longer here, what those people offered to this forum makes my heart heavy. My promise to this forum is from now on by this poster to keep on topic. Take care, God bless, BB |

bodybuilder1958 Wrote:Hi All, I'm glad that you are here, BB. I feel that you are just as much a part of this forum as any other member (new or old). Many here have been members for years. 1171, I believe, is the longest "surviving" member. I became a member back in May of 2005--or was it March, on the older forum, which was archived but is no longer available for some reason. For what it's worth, I can appreciate your promise...and I know others do, also. My only promise is that I'm always going to be Wink. I am not perfect by any means, but I can be no other. If others are going to whine or pout or be hypocritical and contradict themselves even, then so be it. There are a few egos here with all sorts of idiosyncrasies. One can either take what those have to say or feel with a grain of salt or have a sense of humor about it. That's what I do...and I keep on truckin'. I'm not one to fall down and cry like a baby when this forum is not what I want it to be. It would not be fair at all, now would it? Now don't get me wrong...I try my best not to disrespect certain people. And I surely respect those who deserve it. |

Thanks for the Thread Builder! I Understand what You are Saying, and Appreciate Your Thoughts! You are Fast becoming a Very Valuable Person on Here in My Opinion, Your Empathy and Attitude is just what We Need Here! I don't Think a Soul Here should have to Change, My Only thoughts on This is We should Remember to Respect the Opinions of Others, in an Adult Manner, without Name Calling and Berating Someone Else's Views! And the Person that Posts These Views has to be open Minded enough to take Others Views and Listen and Respect Them, even if the Two don't Agree! If We could do that, just Simple Manners and Respect for each Others Opinions, I Think All would be Fine! Thanks Again Builder, it's Great t o See You to Post Your View, and I do Respect and Understand it!!

RE: Keep on topic, a promise to this forum by me
I am one of those who has come and gone on many occasion. Mostly it was due to either the meds I was taking, or the pain I had from even sitting at the computer. But now I have my trusty laptop with me where ever I go so I can watch the proceedings every single day if I like, with minimal pain. Yahoo!!!!!! Of course it means being in bed, but heck. Its a start. Can only get up from here!
I agree with you Builder. I have seen too people get their feelings hurt or in some way felt that they needed to leave the forum because of either mistakes they make, or peoples perceptions of them. And it is sad, because some of these same people were right there for me when I was going through my darkest times here. I don't approve of everything think I hear here, but I try to keep an open mind and see it as a lively discussion in a pub over a beer or two....or over a coffee. Having said that, I have also been at the receiving end of feeling like I wasn't understood and being blasted for not getting it. Whatever it is. When I go back and read through those particular posts I can often see that I was at a very fragile time in my life, so took offense easily. But, like all classrooms, there is always someone who is going to stir it up. Just have to take it as part of lifes wonder fabric. |
