Hubby building a ramp & sidewalks
My home was built in 1991, a 2 story home with a walkout basement.

The top floor is built in the side of a hill with the kitchen, family room, & bedrooms being on this level.

The garage is on the basement level, along with a daughter's bedroom/bath & 2nd family room.

When I bring home groceries I carry bags up 12 steps to the top level of my home.

With 3 knee surgeries (1 being a total knee replacements) having this many stairs is a challenge.

So Hubby and his golfing buddies are building a ramp to the front door (top level of my home) and building sidewalks.

Still need to put in a drive to the front/top floor of my home.

RE: Hubby building a ramp & sidewalks
I have a copy of the ADA guidelines from when I served on an area ADA board.

I use to work as a bus para and saw many dangerous ramps that had been built by homeowners.

RE: Hubby building a ramp & sidewalks
Tuffy It almost looks like my home.

Hubby is building a 2nd sidewalk from his new shop/garage to the front door of my home.

The 2nd sidewalk goes from the front door of the home to a parking area on the south side of my home.

Only problem with the sidewalks in the winter is the snow, and we get lots of it in Kansas.

I'm not Sure of the Cost, or how Long Your Sidewalk is going to be, but if it's going to be Concrete, You May want to Check on the Cost of a Heating Grid to Place in the Concrete. It's just Enough to Melt the Ice and Snow, without Shoveling! Just a Thought, and I Hope it All Goes Well!!Wink

You are Quite Welcome! There is a Gentleman that has His Entire Driveway Heated, and it's a Long One!! It's all Concrete, that's what made Me think of it, I bet it Cost Him a Bundle, but He has it to Spend!!!Smile I Hope it will be Affordable enough for You to Use, it would Make it Much Safer for You!Wink
