Well stated and certainly a view shared by many as they debate the merits and costs of the Presidents' idea of the Public Option to cover the un-insured. But, and you knew there would be a but, let me point out the racist and prejudicial underpinnings of that argument as it is made by many.

The cost to the nation of continuing as we currently find ourselves as it relates to the healthcare of the uninsured, and PLEASE keep in mind that this number has grown exponentially in the past 10 years with the reduction in benefits of working people, is unsustainable. Consider what unsustainable means in relation to health care for a moment. Our is also a Nation that cares for it's downtrodden, it's weak, it's sick, it's poor. The Ideals of a Nation that came to be symbolized by a small statue in the middle of a harbor.

Note that it reads pursuit of happiness, not guaranteed happiness. Equal opportunity does not mean Guaranteed equal outcomes. Apparently "inalienable rights" now includes a variety of government entitlements, only the latest of which now appears to be "free" health care.

"That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness."
