I am from North Carolina. We should all pull together. I myself have contacted the senator and she is going to request an inquiry into our specific case. I sat daown and wrote the whole treatment we have gotten form worker's comp and our employer ( in detail) and I have to send it to them. I think everyone should do this. If not then write down your situation and email it to me and I will take it before the senator myself. You can e-mail it to karolyn_kendrick@yahoo.com Do it quick and I will include everyones complaints with mine. Maybe we can make a difference. It's worth a shot.Tell everyone you know who is still dealing with it or has dealt with it in the past to consider writing everything they have gone through. Either send it to the senator (Kay Hagan) or e-mail it to me and I will mail them all off together.

RE: about pulling together
So you are talking about WC in North Carolina right? WC is a state to state program not federal.
What are you trying to accomplish? WC has a big umbrella of protection over them. Also many do not understand that WC is not trying to get anyone to pre-injury work status; They are working to get you released back into the workplace at some level. I feel most individuals who have strong cases should have themselves a top notch WC Attorney knowledgeable of there state and fight for there rights. 2011 Lexus Convertible |

freebird Wrote:So you are talking about WC in North Carolina right? WC is a state to state program not federal. I never said it was federal that is why I said my state senator. But if everyone would contact theirs maybe we could raise some eyebrows and quit taking the abuse that worker's comp. has been dealing out since their beginning. There is a set of rules that they are supposed to follow and it follows along with the labor board I do know that much. But no-one pushes it. Yeah I agree everyone needs a good attorney but they need a shove sometimes too. There is no-one that got injured that asked to get hurt. Workers comp is basically a legalized money racketeering system that nobody wants to take on face to face. They charge companies a small fortune to carry insurance on their workers but when an accident happens they will do whatever it takes to keep from helping the injured. Maybe I won't accomplish anything but at least I'm willing to try. I'm not going to lay down and take whatever they throw at me. |

Great suggestion! It does pay to contact your state senator and state legislator. I contacted mine and also the governor for my state. The only way "they" know there is a problem with work comp is if we contact them. |

Quit trying to tear the members of this forum down! Injured workers of this forum are here to support each other, not tear each other apart! |

RE: about pulling together
I also contacted mine when I first got hurt...also had a great lawyer
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

The company's urgent care would not sign me out of work even after they new I had blown out a disc in my back.even after they seen the MRI . It wasen't until they sent me to the local spine doctor that I got signed out. But after that I must say workers comp people have been taking good care of me, I had the surgery ( MDL )my checks come every week and the even sent me my check for mileage very fast.I have been going to PT and yesterday I had my 5 week post op with the doctor and the workers comp case worker. they both talked and said I need more PT and it was approved and even gave me another month off...Maybe I just got lucky or I like to say what goes around comes around....I allways try to treat people the way I want to be treated. .Knock on wood every thing goes well for me. Hope you get what you need as soon as you need it. your friend from the mountains. Buddy

RE: about pulling together
I also contacted mine and a representative of his office called me immediately. They offered me any help I needed. I didn't at the time because I had a great attorney BUT they called back and were interested in what I had to say.

Bummer Knees Wrote:freebird Look, Just because I do not jump on every compassion bandwagon does not mean I am trying to tear anyone down. The way this person wrote I thought they did not understand WC is not a Federal Program. Another thing is not all IW's feel scorned about there dealings with WC. I am one of them but that does not mean I cannot be effective in my comments. What did you expect me to say? Would you write a script for me? Come on, Think about it a little before you start attacking me. Do not send this thread south over your personal thoughts. RE: about pulling together
karolynj I just read post#3.
Good for you! This is what being a self advocate is all about, standing up for yourself! I am from Kansas and this past legislative session a bill was introduced to raise the cap on wage loss and the settlement amounts in my state. I worked with legislators trying to keep the bill in session. I received e-mails on this bill almost daily from members of the house. In the end the bill was thrown out and the reason given was the economy. I believe advocating for this bill opened the eyes of many in our state capital. |
