RE: Chrischris....
Hi Spring...I don't have not seen Chris in awhile. Did you check the other site? Maybe she has been posting over there. Also you can click on Chris and find out when her last post was. I think I am going to do that.

RE: Chrischris....
Hi Spring and all,
Thanks for checking on me. Haven't been too well lately. Had an MRI and 3-phase bone scan within the last 5 days. Trying to get all my ducks in a row before my Med/Legal Exam and it's not easy. I'll be back to myself soon, and will post more then. Hope you guys are all well. Spring/Sithie/Others with RSD -- Have you ever had a 3-phase nuclear bone scan to verify RSD? It was ok. Had to go to hospital as out patient to have it done, and they won't tell me anything until I see my doctor in two weeks. Ugh! Thanks! chrischris Let Go, and Let God...... |

RE: Chrischris....
Hi Chris. Sure hope all is as well as can be expected. Can you tell us what they did in that 3-phase nuclear bone scan? Is it anything like a MRI?
Thanks, Deb |

RE: Chrischris....
I never had one because I had the QSART for verification instead. I am curious though if you would not mind sharing.

RE: Chrischris....
It was non-invasive and pretty interesting.
3 Phase Bone Scan This exam is used for detecting stress fractures, osteomyelitis (bone infection), RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) and other bone abnormalities. It is similar to the WBBS in that the injection is the same radiopharmaceutical. The main difference is that 3 sets of images at specific times are obtained, therefore, 3 phases. The area of interest is positioned under the camera prior to injection. We take rapid, sequential images immediately after injection. This is the blood flow phase. Following this, blood pool images are taken. Finally, the patient returns 4-5 hours later for the delayed images which show bone uptake rather than soft tissue as do the earlier phases. Having all 3 sets of data can help provide a differential diagnosis. Patients having a 3 phase bone scan should provide us with outside x-rays and/or other anatomical imaging exams and reports. Having these for comparison assists the radiologist in more accurately determining location of abnormalities demonstrated on the bone scan. Several images are scanned and you have to stay very still. When you arrive they take scans, then they inject you with the nuclear medicine in your vein and while the med is entering your blood stream, more scans are taken. This takes about an hour total. Then you leave for 4 hrs and are told to drink 3-5 tall glasses of fluids to help move the nuclear medicine thru your body. The next scans are taken of your whole body, and then again only the affected body parts. Again the scans take about an hour. All in all, it was a long day. The scanner looks like an open MRI machine and it scans both sides of your body at the same time. Never did that one before! It's supposed to be very good at confirming RSD dx which is needed to support doctors clinical findings. If you google "Nuclear Medicine and RSD" you will find more info and pics of the scans. Very educational! Let Go, and Let God...... |
