AME appointment
State California: I received a letter from WC insurance attorney stating they have scheduled an AME appt for me but it is not until 4 months from now. Four Months? Plus the AME is nearly 60 miles from where I live. The claim has been denied because of AOE/COE issues. I have not received TTD lost wage benefits, injury was 5 months ago my lawyer said he worked out an agreement for the WC to pay me until the decision from the AME over a month ago and that has not happened yet. How do they expect me to manage financially, even food, clothing shelter for another 4 months? State Disability has run out so no source of income.

RE: AME appointment
If you disagree with the use of an AME to resolve the dispute you need to discuss strategy and options with your atty.
Getting a hearing date could take 4 months as well.
Without knowing the options available, it's difficult to criticize one choice over another.
sometimes there are no good choices and you end up having to chose the "least bad".
Being out of work from either a lay off or disability is difficult for a growing number of citizens.
contact your county social services agencies for referals for help with housing, utilities, food, child care, health services, etc.
you can change attys at any time and there will be a single fee shared among them.
