Need advice please
My ncm called me last night and said when we visit my injury dr she is going to ask him more less to back out of the circle of drs that I have. Now she has done this with my primary allready and if this happens all I have left is the Pain clinic. This dr has been here since day 1 and dont want him out of the loop, for he is a one on one type of dr.. I very seldom see a dr at pain clinic just a nurse practioner, so I feel they are starting to rail road me...

I probably wont hear from any one for I have to leave in 15 min...... But on the chance-------some advice please.........Bronco

RE: Need advice please
talk to your doctor privately beforehand about this. dueling doctors can make a case difficult as well as helpful.
the decision should be based on experience and results:
what's happened recently to make this an issue now?
how is recovery impacted?
is it temporary or permanent
what type of results should be used to evaluate whether it was a good decison
are there other options?

RE: Need advice please
All is well.... I did have a sit down talk with him before ncm had her update.. I told him heads up on what shes doing, and he asks why what are her plans, and I went on telling him she wants the pain clinic to be the only one treating.. He took her idea offensively and asked what my wishes were and of course was him.. He said it dont work that way considering my surgeon gave the referal to him.. But did say they can not aprove his treatment.. So we decided to have check up after I see my surgeon and get the next facet injections as well as the nerve block for my leg.... It was before once a month for meds and checkup... He has also renewed my script for vicodin since he personaly witnessed the pain with a cramp on his exam bed... After he told ncm that he renewed and set appointment for the first of dec, she was dumbfounded and simply did not cross the issue....

Thanks 1171............I just got home and read this but thanks for your reply....

RE: Need advice please
You should have a primary care back up because when I had been going to PM and getting my med refills and they did everything they could for me such as the injections etc. They told me that they were no longer going to be able to do anything for me and that they were not just there to give out medications. If I did not want the SCS I was to go to my primary care doctor for the pain medication.

I got very upset as I liked the doctors at the PM clinic and they were trying everything to get rid of my pain. After the PM clinic I was left with asking my primary care doctor to take over prescribing my medications. He had no problem with it as he said I never abused any of my medications. He ended up being my only doctor for awhile and then I went to a new PM clinic cause my primary doctor wanted me to still see a PM doctor.

When I went to this new PM doctor he put in a order for a SCS and was totally against me being on narcotics. He had problems with WC approving a SCS so the WC IC sent me to a IME and a week later I was given a note of what the doctor thought. He told the WC IC that I was a drug addict and that my injury had nothing to do with work. Now mind you I recieved an impairment award 1 yr. ago because it was a work injury ( repetition) and now WC has dismissed me saying it is non work injury.

I have now been cut off from WC which I really do not care at this point. I do not want a SCS so I do have insurance from my husband and I do go to a primary doctor who is taking care of my pain trying different medications to make me comfortable to be able to get out of bed everyday : ) You should still have a primary care doctor on top of a PM doctor. Is this doctor she is trying to remove a primary care doctor?? They just do not want to pay this other doctor and trying to cut down on their bills.......Slowly cutting things one by one. If they have not shut off your meds being paid for, that will probably be next. I think if you want to keep that doctor that you should be able to. Check with your lawyer on that also.

RE: Need advice please
I do have a lawyer but have not needed his services as to this point.. My lawyer is friends with this dr and when push comes to shove I will have to have the lawyer start earning his keep. I have not had to pay him yet and already have been given and collected raiting on 2 body parts, still have hip/leg/pelvis and back to go.

RE: Need advice please
Your lawyer is friends with YOUR doctor?? That is good if he is. I would ask to keep this doctor if you still want him. If he is doing something to help you get better then I would fight for him to still be in the circle of doctors. Even if you see him quarterly. It is probably cause they do not want to pay for him anymore.

Sounds like you are all set with having a lawyer there for any problems that may arise. That is good as I wish I would of been smart enough to do that when WC started playing games with me and slowly taking away one thing at a time. I could always tell when they were going to stop paying for something cause they would then send me a letter that I was going to a IME within a week or two. The sooner the better for them. The last one I went to was in 1 1/2 weeks time and got the results back in less than a week that my WC ended due to not being a WC case..LOL after they paid for everything and all my treatments / my permanent impairment award and now they say it was not a WORK INJURY?

I know I can fight for this but do not have a lawyer and do not want to have WC any longer due to having my own insurance that is paying for everything anyways. My next step was a SCS implant which I was not wanting anyways. It only made me more depressed being on WC which I never wanted to begin with. I was forced to sign the form before I left the day I was injured.
