No Jayne, this is an informal contest. But, if I can't read it at all, I might get frustrated and move on. Tongue

Home is Where the Heart is.

Our youngest son just got married 3 weeks ago. As I was getting into the shower the other day our Baby girl who is 24 and putting herself through medical assitant school in Ohio called. We began talking about how wonderful the wedding was. All of a sudden Heather began to cry and told me when she got back to Ohio it was the first time that she had become home sick. I listened as she told me how much she missed her family and friends. She told me how desperately she missed her home that she had bought on her own when she was only 21 years old. This young lady has had a 4.0 GPA since the beginning of school and works full time while attending classes. It has been very difficult on her since she was accustomed to small town living. Now she was where there are 4 lanes of traffic going each way. This is quite a difference from the little country roads she had grown up on, our village only had 1 stop sign leaving town. She told me how school was going and that she had now donated 3 pints of blood to pay back those who had donated blood when her Dad so desperately needed them after a surgery he had last year. She told me she wants to be able to save someone elses Dad because someone had saved hers. Dave is her step Dad and the only father she has ever known since her Dad died when she was 4 years old. As she spoke I could hear the tears in her voice. We spoke for awhile and all of a sudden there was silence on the other end of the line. Heather came back on and told me she had to get off of the phone because there was a police car ahead and she didn't want a ticket for being on the phone while driving. As I took my shower I couldn't help but stand there and cry because of the great pride I have for her accomplishments. After my shower I noticed that there was a message on the answering machine. It was Heather, she said "Mom I hung up so quickly I didn't know if you heard me tell you I Love You." Again the tears ran unashamedly down my cheeks as my heart swelled with pride that I had given birth to such a wonderful Daughter.

This is a picture of our Daughter Heather and her best friend Gage. They have known each other since they were babies. At the wedding Gage told me if he ever gets married he is going to marry a girl just like Heather. He said "she is beautiful, smart and funny. She is the whole package."

Being a military wife "Home" has always been where honey hanged his uniform and we have had many....the good thing about military housing is its always white walls so when you moved you could move many of your favorite things without worring would they clash with your new "home"I have had "homes" in Calif,colorado,ga.okla(3 times),alaska and Germany(2 times) arkansas and Florida.....and Honey has had several "homes" in war zones.....
"home" is not where your at but where your heart is and my heart is where my kids are....yes I have alot of them...I had Connie and then Bobby and had my tubes tied cuz 2 was enough...I dont make a good pregnant person and lets face it labor and delivery sucks big time...while stationed in Alaska we were doing foster care for teen girls and I got a call on july 2nd you are the only one with 2 beds open and we need an emergency placement for 2 little girls that have been severly abused.....they were 3 and 18 months and I was supposed to just have em for the long weekend....we adopted them 9 months later...2 weeks after that I was throwing up and having terrible pains in my belly so they sent me for a ultrasound and found a baby(Becca) which we nicknamed 5th and final....our life went on and we had several more "homes" we then retired from the military and bought our small farm...Honey went to work for pepsi and I for the Sal army our kids were growing up and leaving home and the grands were being born.. we go to buy a new house to put on our farm as the old one was just falling down everywhere we looked nothing felt like"home" we were looking for a floor plan with 2 master bedrooms one for us one for the kids when they come home to visit we just couldnt find one we both liked...then we walked into a double wide with 4 bedrooms and felt at "HOME" it was way to big for us but the feeling was there so we bought it and moved in .... the next week when I was at work.. in walks a young woman carring Carrie will you watch my baby for a week till we can work enough to get a room she says .....and the next year she brought me Daniel and 2 years later Shae...she would pop in and out of their lifes till we got tired of it and adopted all 3 with the blessings of their father and grandparents...so after nearly empting our "home" we filled it to the brim with more love, laughter, mess and more.....So you see I believe God knew he had more children for us and wouldnt let us feel at "home" in a smaller place he knew we needed a bigger place so our new children could have a place to call "home"...I love this ol farm it home to alot of people....My grands love Nana and Papas home and would stay if they could...... many have while their parents have done overseas duty or when they needed to learn right from wrong.....Now thanks to our church...My parents call this ol farm "home" also......
