Family Reunion
[attachment=596][attachment=596]Has anyone ever traced there family back to a Dillion Asher in Clay CO Ky. This is my family. Old Dillion Asher fathered 28 children by 4 different women. (Guess he never kept his pants on LOL). They have the Dillion Asher Reunion next week. It is always the first week end in Oct. I am going to go this year. There is always 1500 to 2000 people at this reunion. They have books and records of 23000+ descendents from this man. My grandmother is a direct descendent of his. If you follow the links I have attached there is a log cabin pic, he built this log cabin and it is still standing and taken care of today by the Ky Historical Society. The reunion is held next to the cabin area. It is a full week-end activity. Very anxious to go as this will be the first year i have attened. Find attached pics of the cabin and link to the geneology from him. My grandmother was born in this cabin as Dillion Asher was her great great great grand father. Wonder if there is anyone oh here other than me that is a family member from this line. One never knows. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ance...er.htmHere are some pics also of the cabin the link did not work try it again http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ance...asher.html

no thanks CF you dont want to be kin to me...Bill and I stopped going to the reunions when we had to keep a ambulance on site and at least 2 squad cars full of cops.....I remember the last one we went to on my Mommas side and it was when I was pregnant with Becca.....there was a stabbing over a pair of shoes Thats when Bill said no way no how are we gonna go to another one...when you get that many drunk indians together there is gonna be trouble.....

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Family Reunion
Tue I have a Dr appt with my family dr. who takes care of my sleep apnea. Then I will be driven (since i am still not allowed to drive) over to Dayton Ohio, spend the night at my sons house, will get to see the 2 yr old grand daughter, Wed will meet up with a cousin of mine and we will head to the hills of KY. That reunion is Friday night with a dinner and sat. and all day pot luck lunch at the site of the Log Cabin and Sun a family church service also there.. and they we will head back to Ohio... I have my camera ready can'g imagine all the relatives there that i have never meet in my life... These people come from as far away as Cal. Alaska and Hawaii and off cousre all the states up and down the east coast. What the hell of i doing in a family that has over 23000 people from one man...Looking forward to it, i am being weaned from my cervical collar so i want have to wear it much while i am there. Have my camera ready just need to down load all the grand baby pics and wipe it out before i leave. This place is so far back in the sticks that they have to pump the sunshine into it LOL. But my grand parents had thousands of acreas there with coal, oil, and gas on it but sold it all and gave it all away. I will take a pic of the church my grandfather built. They have to have one service there a month inorder to keep the church or it get turned back over to our family. I guess they to hold service there once a month to keep it from waht i am told. someday it will be out familys little summer cabin along the redbird river. My sisters went there a couple years back and they said they felt like the children of the corn. cause all they could see were corn fields everwhere, that people were growing for there live stock.
Will be an interesting time for me.... Stilll can not believe no one on this site has traaced themself back to out 23000 member family....
You guys have a great week and will be back when i can might get access to a computer somewhere down in the hills.

RE: Family Reunion
My husband is from a family of 8 children and his mothers sister had 16 kids. I am sure we have alot of history and alot of family we do not even know exists.

I am one of 5 children on my side and pretty much all my uncles, aunts all have 5 children each. Just on my husbands side alone at Christmas time and Thanksgiving we have to rent a hall or go to one of the kids homes that is big enough to hold us all. I love when there is family gatherings especially if everyone gets along...LOL

RE: Family Reunion
I am from a large family as well. I'm not sure just how many there are on my grandmothers side (12 aunts and uncles). At her 90th Bday party in 1985, there were over 1000 people that went through my aunts' house. I know that there are many more than that now, as just my brothers, sisters and I have added numerous grand and great grand children to the mix.

I have been able to trace my grandmother's ancestory back 23 generations and there are definitely some skeletons in that closet. Including, but not contained to one that had Mary, Queen of Scots ensconced in his dungeon, one that was persecuted for regicide against a king and Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys. Quite a colorful history, with us still being allowed to carry 2 seperate coats of arms and somewhere over in England as well as Scotland are castles that still belong to the family.

I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane.
