I am now officially in the country

I am now officially in the country
I know, Bill wants to know how I am officially in the country.. and I guess my answer to that is, all the signs of country are crowding in around me. I have deer everywhere. I think they are going to eat my flowers all up...so Del is going to have to change his tactics or as he tells me I am going to have to stop feeding them because it is attracting more and more. Then we almost hit a deer coming home in the dark last night. Wow is it dark in the country. The city is always very light even with all the lights out there are still city pole lights that bring brightness. And Del buying a large riding lawn mower and watching him play on it everyday...(he has to cut 2 1/2 ac. to keep the grass down and it goes up and down) I thought was truly making it official... but official did not come until, there was a storm and I lost computer service for almost 72 hours. I could not believe it. There are 500 customers on my service in this county and the organization only hires 1 tech controller. This service is a wireless broad band service which is neither DSL or cable...as I understand the it. WE have a tower at the top of our hill that relays our messages to other towers through a dish network. Strange since I have always had cable. Now I believe it is official. I am in the country. No computer service can you imagine. They made it good however... and decided to move our beginning date of service to today ... I have to give credit where credit is due.

After reading the above... I just realized that will not even touch the same country rocks where jayne lives, becasue I have no chickens which means there are no snakes trying to steal my eggs, I have no cows to milk which means I do not have to get up early, I have no reptiles or g. pigs in my house... so I take the above paragraph back. Jayne is in the country...I am playing country...smiling..jayne find the humor in this please... had to write something abo ut my country experience and then realized it is nothing compared to your stories.... you rock girl... love you Red

Red I have some extra chickens and a rooster you can have. You only have to come to to Kansas to get them, laughing!

You can be country without all the farm animals, but you do need a Cowgirl Up sticker for your car!

My daughter drives a GMC pickup with a tool box in the bed and a cowgirl up sticker on the rear window, now thats country!

Got her a t-shirt that reads,"Will trade boyfriend for John Deere"

I have deer whistles on all of my vehicles and haven't hit a deer yet, you might want to check them out.

RE: I am now officially in the country
Thanks Bummer... I might have to take you up on those deer whistles. There are deer every where here. I really enjoy them but they are eating the beautiful flowers around here so my husband has been reading on the computer how to get rid of them without hurting them..or to keep them from a particular area. Bear scent is something that seems to help but her wants Bear scent around there place. I am not sure about this at all...... I love my house and my new home but bear scent.. sounds to much like there is a bear around again. Where I grew up there were black bear everywhere... they liked to roll in the wheat fields when we had a wheat field. They also like to eat all the strawberries. I am just going to take it day by day and see what happens .. just wondering if the city oriented kid will go back to being a country girl. Just yesterday Del and I set up a target and did some shooting..next thing you know he and I will be riding motor bics again...oh I think I am too old for that nonsense..however, as fast as things are changing mylife..you just never know. RE: I am now officially in the country
Hun It sounds to me like you are still in the city. You didn't have service for 72 hours? Here if we have it for 72 hours a month we are lucky. I have gone 4 months at a time with no phone service , except from midnight until about 5 AM. I'm still on dial up because we can't get high speed. Who do you call when the phones are like that, no one. Then of course there is no cell phone service, we walk if our cars break down. If I didn't see deer and bear almost daily I would think that the world had ended....Ha Ha. Then if you need a quart of milk it's a 24 mile round trip to get it. There have been times when I haven't been able to leave my house for a week or more because of either flooding or snow. You are still a city slicker if they don't name your road after you because it can't be seen from the main road. LOL Love ya and take care, you do sound happy. Backache.

GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT!

RE: I am now officially in the country
Hi all... you are all right. I am doing much better and hopefully it does show in my writings. I am still missing words I find, however, I don't re read my post before I post as I should no doubt. As for the country, you, backache are definitely in the country. You are definitely what a true country girl is about. When I heard the fishing stories about you, I thought here lives and breathes a true country girl. I on the other hand, would let the guys get to the fishing holes and then beat them on their own terms becasue as they are loading and unloading my pole I would be catching the fish...is that a trick of a southern bell...oh no, I am not a southern bell but I sure do believe that I will not touch or poke holes in to worms, or set the fliers and so forth. And please, I will fry the fish, but never in your life will I clean them. I will catch and the men trade poles with me so I can keep fishing as I haul them in. This may be a bit of cheating but it works for me....lol smiling... backache you rock too girl... I miss Alexia..she always told me, "grandma, you rock," now I am saying it...lol Red

RE: I am now officially in the country
Backache do you go long periods without electricty? We do, went almost 2 weeks last winter.

That is our biggest problem being in the country, and when there is no electricty there is no phone service.

I also am on dialup but will be switching to high speed internet next week. My daughter has a wireless computer for her college classes and has to set in the motel parking lot in town so she can do her online homework.

I finally figured out how to get her wireless computer to work at home with high speed internet. I have a small phone company and they just started offering high speed internet.

RE: I am now officially in the country
Ahy I had no idea that so many were on dial up or didn't have a high speed cable.. I would be doing a jayne trick..out the window if I had to wait too long. Sometimes I have to wait to post here..and I am tempted to just move on and forget the post... I guess I am just a very busy or impatient person..and most likely it is an impatient person. love Red
