Still In Limbo

You have a very wise Dad. From your post I recognize your inner strength.

I want to share a story with you about something that happened in my life.

Years go my husband and I successfully adopted a baby girl. This was after four years of failed adoption and we finally had a daughter.

Our daughter, Amber was not a well baby and at five weeks of age we were told to schedule an appointment for her with a neurologist.

Her neurologist ordered an EEG, the results from this test showed our perfect baby had cerebral palsy, a week later we learned she was blind and a short time later ewe learned she was deaf.

After learning about Amber's CP, I went home, went to bed, refused to answer the phone, and locked the door. I was in shock. Well, my younger sister (who fortunately doesn’t understand what the word
no means) showed up at my home and banged on the door until I let her inside.

My sister helped me realize I had two choices, I could refuse to acknowledge my daughters problems and be an uninvolved parent or I could learn everything I could about my daughter’s disability,
educational issues she would face, and about her world,
I could become her loving advocate.

I attended every workshop and training related to parenting special needs children and not only became an advocate for my daughter but for other children in the state of Kansas.

God has a plan for each of us; sometimes it is difficult to understand the purpose of his plan or where it will lead.

Amber passed away in 1995; after she died people would come up to me and tell me, "Amber taught me so much about life."

Just wanted to share, sorry my story was so long.

RE: Thank You All So Much For Your Kind Words, It's Time For Me to Share!

Everyday that I come here I find another reason I do. And also why I have stayed for over a year. Over and above our WC injuries, other health issues and what we have gone through in the system we all have all had some very trying times in our lives. We have been given situations at times that have made us know that God must have a plan, we don't understand it at times, and don't question Him but go on the best we can with faith in Him. We are a group of the strongest of the strong, the kindest of the kind, the most supportive and loving group I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of. When one of us is falling there are many along with the Lord that help us to stand up, dust ourselves off, and keep going.

God bless each and everyone of you. I know He has me, because I found all of you.

Bummer, your Story just goes to show that when it's time to step up to the plate and fight against the Tide, we somehow find the inner strength to go on and turn bad into good! one thing I found out a long time ago, Love has no boundaries, and what you did shows the Love and inner strength you posses as an exceptional Person! You are to be commended for your actions!! You may have only had that little one a little while, but she went to God understanding Love, and you will see Her again!!Wink

Cap., your words are true! If we weren't fighters, we wouldn't be here trying to help each other and understand ourselves what we are going through!! This is the Best and most Compassionate group of People I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, and the caring and understanding I have received here I haven't found anywhere else!!Wink

cfree, thank You for your Post!! Depression is Hell, I've fought it most of my Adult Life. I believe Cap. put it Best for me, One thing at a time!! You can't change it all in one Day, it Takes time and Patience, probably two of the hardest things for us Injured Workers to have. The Bills Mount, The Stress comes, w/c plays their games, your Health isn't good, your Future is up in the Air, and the list goes on!! Just remember we are all here for You, through good and bad, and take things one step at a time. These are not Problems, they are Situations, Problems don't have a resolution, but Situations can be handled if you concentrate on one Situation at a time! I wish you the Very Best, and don't be afraid to vent here, My God we've all done it, and it Helps! Hang in there and handle each situation as it comes, and leave the others for another Day!!!Wink

Big Grin RE: Thank You All So Much For Your Kind Words, It's Time For Me to Share!
Limbo,

It is so heart-warming to see that you are back and in full gear. I am also happy that we have all been here to support you through your difficult time. This is what family is all about!

Lean on me, when your not strong, I'll be your friend, to help you carry on, and now it won't be long, before I'm gonna need someone to lean on. Just call on me brother, when you need a hand, we all need somebody to lean on.

Not sure if I have all the exact words but you know this is taken from the song Lean On ME. I am not exactly a singer, ya know. Dancing was my talent.

Anyway, sooooooooo good to have our Limbo and his Penquin back (Smiling, big, big and doing the Happy Dance).

Take care and God Bless you!

Thanks MJC, you have been a Good Friend to me! Many times some of the things you have said to me has either brightened my Day, or helped me to see clearer. I have been to New Orleans a couple of times, and if I ever get down that way again, you can bet your gonna' get a GREAT BIG RED-NECK PENNSYLVANIA HUG FROM ME!!! (LOL)!! Take Care and I hope your problems are small, your pain minimal, and your happiness never-ending!!!Smile

RE: Thank You All So Much For Your Kind Words, It's Time For Me to Share!

I have such mixed feelings when I come here in the morning. Some are good when I read the love and support from all to all and other times I just want to cry at the pain, confusion, and frustration that WC has given us.

cfree.....Best of luck on your surgery. I had it done in April. It ended up being open due to all the spurring, part of the acromium bone coming off and a 2 inch rotator cuff tear that didn't show up in the MRI. If you have any questions or concerns I would be happy to help in any way I can. May God watch over you and make your surgery a success.

RE: Thank You All So Much For Your Kind Words, It's Time For Me to Share!
I agree with MJC. It is really good to see Still back in the swing of things. I love to see his penguin flying. MJC I love that song. It has such meaning doesn't it. Cap I agree...I love this forum for the people on it, but my heart crys at the knowledge of the pain and suffering so many of these wonderful people are going through. Then my brain says "enough is enough" when I hear about treatments that are being denied are with held by the IC. In my case of course it is my husband and it really makes me feel helpless when I see him in pain and the IC will not treat him. The really good think on this forum besides the support and the people is that we learn so much from each other. I know I have learned a lot about WC IC and what to expect out of the lawyers and so on. That part has brought a wealth of knowledge and understanding so that I can help my husband that way. Thank you to all of you.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
